This fork really was a game changer, and with it came the emergence of the Italian style Marzocchi is famous for. I remember seeing the first prototype at a DH race in Blacomb in 95 and being so curious about it. This fork is way more reliable than ANY FOX fork ever made.

I still think the Z1 BAM is the greatest fork of all time and way ahead of its time. open oil bath, 130mm travel, 20mm thru. We are still rocking this style today for trail, all mtn, enduro, whatever the F you wanna call mtn biking. I still remember the local bike shop in fremont california in 1999 had a sign in their shop as to why they like the Z1 BAM: Function over form. Theyre still fighting that good fight today.

OMG, the Z1 from 1999/2000, with 130 mm Open Oilbath-Damping, was my very first Fork for a serious MTB. Man I loved this Fork. I still have a Junior-T from 2002 and guess what: This Fork still works flawlessly !!! :-D

This one is older than 1999/2000 though. 1997 or 1998 I'm guessing, based off of the cantilever cable stop.

My first REAL freeride fork. Got it at the original Deep Cove bike shop. Paid a lil over 300 bucks for it. Changed my perception of what a suspension can do for mountain biking. By the way it had disk brake post on both legs!

 my personal list of 'Zokes:

1998 Z2 BAM 80mm silver polish
2001 Z1 CR 130mm silver polish
2002 Shiver SC 120mm silver polish (still rocking this on my enduro race bike TODAY)
2006 Z1 light ETA 130-150mm white

I've ridden everything under the sun and zokes are still my favorite due to the moto feel they try to reproduce in their mtn bike forks.

This is the only fork I didn't break or bust seals during its era!

Thats strange because the seals were renowned for leaking
