So they only make the larger rotors to scare the weight weenises off? Think not! They make a great difference on longer steep runs, in performance and cooling! If you are building a light xc bike sure, save the weight! If you are riding an enduro bike like it should be, 180/203 is where its at!
Ride report: this thing is a hell of a lot of fun. Agile, plush, whippy, but incredibly stiff all at once. I found the rear end was a bit saggy so I added some air to the CCDB (145 psi) and it turned into some kind of wicked hard tail hybrid, stiff as a board on rolling, flowy trails but totally responsive on steeps. I'm starting to get a feel for the bike and getting more confident launching it. it's an amazing climber and a great platform. I really couldn't be happier, anxious to try the 1x10 setup.
One small error I made was buying a 175 crankset, I think a 170 would have been preferable with the lower BB.
I will likely go up to the 180 front and then re-assess. I'm currently about 180 lbs so it should do fine. Thanks for all the comments, I take any and all advice to heart.
