Woah, thats a massive chainring. How would you compare riding with it over, say, a 32t? I've been considering switching to a 38

Totally depends on the riding and rides you do.. My local hill is a pretty mild 2500' climb for your descents.. The 38t was fine since it was a fire road grinder.. Any flat XC rides were also fine.. But on long epic rides with lots of climbs, I dropped back down to a 34t. Especially since the epic rides were mostly pitchy rolling trail climbs where you couldnt get into a pedaling rhythm.

Is the Carbon bash just large or is the ring large also?

It's a old carbon guide and bash from a company that went out of business a while ago. I don't even remember who made it.

Have you replaced pivot bearings? And have they been a problem?

Yes they have been replaced, but they havnt been any issue at all..
