Cool shot, but a bit too busy for my taste.

It's also slightly crooked, which bugs me.

No it's not, the trees/lift towers are pretty much dead straight. It's maybe out by 1 degree or so. You can't rely on horizontals unless they are directly parallel to the camera, which they aren't.

 Where the hell is Waldo?

I really like the how it shows the energy of the event from a spectators view in a clean composition, though, a shallower dof would make Geoff even more the main element. This would be so cool printed 10' wide. This shot makes me want to be a spectator rather than behind the camera as usual.

@redrook: Exactly. I wasn't 'relying' on horizontals, it's clear enough from the lift towers. 1deg is still 1deg, though it's a couple more than that. It's not even barrel distortion either and the largest tower throwing out the perspective, the remaining towers through the centre remain off kilter.

I fully appreciate how quickly these guys snap, review, process, and upload these amazing shots and love and respect them for it, however I find crooked photos inexcusable for a professional photographer considering how it takes only a second to correct.

Not trying to be a dick, just expressing my opinion.

It's about 1 degree, having copied it and put it into PS I can tell you that 1 degree sorts it. Get over it.

Was this years amount of spectators the most to date? I don't ever remember seeing so many in attendance.

oh wish i made it over to whistler for crankworx! im here now but i feel like i missed such an awesome event!

Was at least that many when I was there (2010). I think the difference is the crowd access to areas, which seems to be different this year.

Well it's the biggest event they've had for spectator numbers (previous to the Olympics that just happened, I'm not sure how many that was). I think the number is around 20,000 but I cannot remember where I heard that and if that was the number for the slope comp. or for the whole week.

Guess i don't remember Whistler being located in Seattle
  • 3 0
It's called the upload location.. Smart ass.
  • 10 1
Yeah we upload these at 4 am for the post and sometimes forget to change the location as it is so very important... Obviously not in Seattle...
  • 8 2
It'd be sick if Whistler was in Seattle/Snoqualmie. Be a lot closer for me instead of 10hrs away!
  • 1 1
if only they would throw an event like this at Steven's someday. I remember the day when Snoqualmie used to be one the roughest most dangerous courses in the old NORBA series. Those were the days...
