''Sometimes when you think you're going to have a bad day, you have a good day. I'm feeling pretty shitty so hopefully I'll ride well.'' Gully rode well. Top 10 on the day.
No it's not, the trees/lift towers are pretty much dead straight. It's maybe out by 1 degree or so. You can't rely on horizontals unless they are directly parallel to the camera, which they aren't.
I really like the how it shows the energy of the event from a spectators view in a clean composition, though, a shallower dof would make Geoff even more the main element. This would be so cool printed 10' wide.
This shot makes me want to be a spectator rather than behind the camera as usual.
@redrook: Exactly. I wasn't 'relying' on horizontals, it's clear enough from the lift towers. 1deg is still 1deg, though it's a couple more than that. It's not even barrel distortion either and the largest tower throwing out the perspective, the remaining towers through the centre remain off kilter.
I fully appreciate how quickly these guys snap, review, process, and upload these amazing shots and love and respect them for it, however I find crooked photos inexcusable for a professional photographer considering how it takes only a second to correct.
Not trying to be a dick, just expressing my opinion.
Well it's the biggest event they've had for spectator numbers (previous to the Olympics that just happened, I'm not sure how many that was). I think the number is around 20,000 but I cannot remember where I heard that and if that was the number for the slope comp. or for the whole week.
if only they would throw an event like this at Steven's someday. I remember the day when Snoqualmie used to be one the roughest most dangerous courses in the old NORBA series. Those were the days...
