Just so you know (if that is original shock), you have no where near 8 inches of travel. More like 5.6 inches in the 7 inch hole. 7 inches divide by 2.5 (stroke of shore) plus 2.0 (stock shock) = 5.6 inches. If that is not a longer stroke shock nice down

oh you will not understand how much travel this thing has, you gota see it to believe, i grabbed a pen and stuck it on the drop out and moved the wheel up, without the spring and with the bottom bracket on a platform, so still want to discuss?

I will not understand eh? No you do not understand. I have the exact same frame as you (04 atomik) I know how the travel upgrade goes and if you did not put a longer stroke shock on you did nothing but down grade it.

Also the way you measured it is not even a proper way to measure the travel. current travel divide by current stroke times new stroke. That's norco's own equation, and you have 5.6 with those links. I had a dhx 2.75 stroke on mine and got 7.3 inches.

Ask any body who knows bikes, or better yet read norco's site. The links do NOTHING for travel increase, they only make room for a shock.
