pros, powerful, easy ajustment, easy setup, light lever pull, cheap.

cons, pads wear kinda fast, not as smooth or powerful as hydrolics duh.

i like these brakes alot and if i was on a budget would get these again "but if possible get the bb7's"

These are has far has i know the best mechanical disc brake I owned. I use them for street and park and they are perfect, i also used it for dh they are good but i prefer the feeling of hydraulics. so far I didn't have any problems with them and the "in" pad knob is a really nice feature thats makes it easier to set up.

Great brakes, possibly the best mechanical disc brakes out there. Cheap, highly ajustable, really powerfull, easy to setup and just generally amazing for the money. Worth every penny!

This were my first disc brakes ever. And I like them allot. There easy to adjust and worked always fine for me! Didn't find any negative points on this one, since I didn't had any other disc brakes.

awesome stopping power, if tuned and installed properly....you do not want to use these babies or else you'll be buying new tires every month and dentist visits now and then. trust me I almost killed myself twice

Weak brake. Much better choice is the Accent Freezer FR. Recommended control is a very poor braking power. Weak modulation. I don't recommend. At this price you can have a much better brake.

Great braking power for great price.
Only minus is you can't adjust the moving pad as you can do on the BB7. Instead you have to realign the caliper when the pads are at the end of their life.

Amazing brake! stops on a dime! amazing for when manualing too high and you just tap it and it brings you back into controll! Well worth the money! Love mine!

I like these brakes. They have been pretty good for me. I find the back one gets some rocks in it, and scratches the disk, but it cleans very easily.

 Sick brakes.
Pros: easy to adjust, barely need to do anything to them. Good stop force
Cons: The lever is not the greatest
Overall good breaks for their price

awesome but i run a custom 140mm rotor so i dont bend them as easy and i have to take the caliper off to get the wheel out.

Super easy to adjust, smooth and efficient, but the adjustable brake pad bends out of shape too easy.

Avid BB5 (MSRP $52.5) — To this day, the BB5 continues to attract all types of riders who crave the simplicity and elegant function of the world’s best cable-actuated brake. It’s more powerful and is easier to set up than any mechanical disc ... ever. Details including the dual-pad adjustment knobs, easy pad replacement, precision ball bearing actuation, and infinitely variable spring tension details ... mean control like you’ve never felt before. Plus, using any of our Ball Bearing Disc BrakesTM means that you can choose one of our levers with Speed Dial® for sweet, adjustable modulation. Isn’t the freedom of choice swell? our Speed Dial® levers for sweet, adjustable modulation. You can’t get that on any hydraulic. Last but not least, this year we gave the BB7 a tasty new finish, new inboard/outboard adjustment knobs and a beefy two-piece, forged body.
