Omg, coming from stock brakes, my mind is blown. No more on off. The feel of the modulation people talk about is well worth a couple extra bucks. The combo of lever angle adjustment let alone the "grab " adjuster, or the "knuckle crush" adjuster. Yeah they are a little old, but so is the black widow, and dang is she all the more deadly with a proper set of brakes. Shout out to the local biking community of the central Okanagan, BC,CA! Rutting Land!

Best feeling brakes ever purchased, my co-worker was hit by a car on his bike with these brakes, the brake levers left massive dents in the side of the truck and the brakes still work fine, as a bomb proof DH, XC, or just kick around brakes i would go with these, as a Mechanic i give them a well deserived approval

Excellent brakes they have incredible stopping power. I really like how Quick you can adjust these! I've ridden them for 7 months now, after 5 months of hard ridding I replaced the rear pads. Great brakes, I've had no problems yet and I would highly recommend them.

These are probably the best brakes I have ever ridden. I've experienced no break fade and wow they are easy to bleed. These brakes stop me on my dh rig fast with one finger braking. They are super precise and are just awesome.

these brakes have been heaven to me, i love to make ajustments to my bike while i'm riding it to make it more comfortable to ride and perform better, these brakes you dont need any tools to adjust the reach or pad contact, which is great beause i dont have to carry tools or wait till i get back home. The power is amazing can always rely on it, i wouldnt run any other brake.
i would rcomend these brakes to any downhiller who likes to ajust on the track and needs powerful but light brakes.

awesome set of brakes work good for just about anything, also they are very easy to bleed and fix. i toke a hard crash (i broke my wrist) and bent the lever bolt and reach agustment screw and it was a 15 minuite job and the carbon levers are very strong 9cause they didn't break!!!!!) i can not find any thing wrong with these brakes. just go out and buy them

Amazing all around Brakes Lighter than any other brakes that I no I can't think of any cons but the pros are definatly the reach adjustment so you don't have to bring a tool out to adjust it and the new taperbore technology the carbon levers make it even lighter great brakes.

AMAZING brake, as soon as you wear them in they stop on a dime, I have a 140mm rotor and it works just as well as my friends 185mm juicy 7. modulation is amazing compaired to other brakes I have used, Defiantly recommend this brake for any use!

I love these brakes! They have great tooless adjustability at the lever. Good modulation during the whole stroke of the lever. Two piece clamp makes it easy to take on ad off without removing the grip like you have to with other brake levers. Ability to use different angles on the banjo bolt on the caliper is a bike plus for bikes with funky rear ends like the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR. The only downfall is the price, and with all the features and light-weight...it's not much of a downfall, there are other brakes that have less features and charge you more. Buy it!

Killer brake!!! I also have the Elixir Rs and they get the job done all the same, but having the pad adjustment is priceless... lets your brakes engage much quicker, with a lot less play in the lever. Normally I stray away from these extra adjustments but for these brakes it really is great to have! A+ in my book. Go get your's now!

love these brakes! i run them on my empire 5 and never skipped a beat and they can take a beating. they are great if you don't want the price and the ridiculous power of a saint brake or code brake but these still pack a punch and they preform well at any bike park. i would recommend these brakes to any one.

Got them on my tr450, i had saint brakes before and found that the saints were far too grabby for my liking, i also found they had little modulation, i changed for elixirs and they were completely opposite, they had slightly less power, but i use my brakes to control my speed not stop me as soon as i look at them (like the saints were) the modulation on the elixirs were far better and have a much better lever feel too.

Amazing brakes. incredible modulation with its new TaperBore Technology. Also super adjustable with its lever extension, Brake Pad Positioning System, you can make this brake seem like it was built for you personally. The carbon levers give it a great feeling. Along with the super sleek black body and anodized red adjustments it looks great. Super light and strong, these are great brakes.

Better than all my xtr stuff - beautiful components and super smooth secure controlled braking, rest of the bike may change, but my CRs will stay for some years yet! To think I nearly wasted my money on Strokers.....

Running a set of these brakes with 185 rear and 203 front rotors. The 185 rear is plenty powerful enough for DH and they haven't needed a bled yet (which is surprisingly good as Avid brakes usually have a poor factory bleed)

super light, stiff, enough power and modulation. Although I have the Magnesium version (which is even lighter) I had experience with this one. Can be used at anything from XC to DH

Better than the Codes that I rode for a year. Really like the lever action and they modulate pretty well. THe reach and contact adjustments are key. Won't ride breaks without these features.

great brakes, good power, great adjustability. I run them on my street/dj and my trail bike. If they made their carbon and aluminum levers the exact same dimensions they would be much better

The best "all use" brakes that I ever had... low weigth, high power braking , easy maintenance.

Combined with a pair of rotors "HOPE 203mm" is the best choice you can have.

Avid Elixir CR (MSRP $260) — The CR is the Elixir you run if only the very best will do. TaperBoreTM Technology, beautiful black finish, toolfree reach adjustment, and a foxy new Pad Contact-Point Adjustment design all make it a marvel of brake design. Power Elixir has awesome stopping power because of its new, super-stiff, two-piece caliper, featuring larger grooved pistons than our Juicy brakes. The larger pistons produce overall power that sits halfway between Juicy and Code.
