I have a pair and they are super grippy, with good long pins. I think they're just as good as the 5050xx, just a bit heavier, but honestly who cares about 100g. These are the pair to buy so don't bother wasting another £20 ($40) on the upgrade pair.

The best pedals I have ever used..... I use them on my DH bike and my XC bike..... nothing better than having a solid platform for your feet to push on ! quality is TOP notch...... with the long pin set,,, they are like glue on the bottom of your feet !

what really caught my eye on these are the pins u can replace them and what not, i like because they are similar to the same concept as fastway pegs(mx pegs) there wide sturdy and tons of grip and u can replace pins if needed to, ive been using these for the past 2 months and not a single issue

Have the 5050xx on my other bike and use the 5050x for ages on my Kona Stinky. You see, this is a high quality Pedal made for hardcore usage. Virtually indestructable. Combine it with a Ti Axle for eternal usage. You might want to set in some pins of your own in order to customize grip to your likings. CrankBrothers offer a great customer service btw!

Currently running these on my DJ. The bearings are super smooth and they grip your shoes like nothing else. They are without a doubt the best flat pedals I've ever used. In the four years I've been running them not once have I slipped off them. The only problem I had with them was I lost the bolts holding the cage on, I zip tied it back on and ran them for another year without any problems before upgrading to a newer set. Absolutely brilliant, 5050's are the way forward.

These pedals look PIMP. Buy new, look after them and they will last a long time. From time to time, play in the bearings will develop, so wedge out the plastic end cap, bung a socket in there and tighted up. Every year, take them apart pack them with grease and these pedals will last you ages. Pins stay in well, but do not like to come out. Whereas the pedal plate pins which hold the actual plates in do tend to come loose over time, so keep an eye on them. Overall if you look after them, you will have a light, wide, grippy, flat, PIMP set of pedals, well worth the money!

Came on my most recent bike. I love these pedals. They almost grip too well. These with some 5.10's and you are LOCKED ON!

Decent pedal. Great weight and great wide platform so they r very forgiving. Not impressed with the play in the bearings when i bought em although it hasn't been a problem.

Sturdy platform, long pins give a better grip and when trashed replacement plates and pins are cheap and easy to install.
