very good quality hub. i ripped it 6 years without any service or greasing and all what died is the left bearing. can be easy changed. the hub is easy to open and the freewheel gears can be easy removed and changed. few years ago i broke the body (dt hügi fr) and they sent me in 3 days a new one on warranty. becomes very "clicky" after 2 years of daily use without greasing.
amazing quality! good choice.

minimal engagement points, but the hub counters this by having the most solid engagement of any hub ive ever ridden. the star ratchet system is easy to overhaul, and elegantly simple. this is by far the best hub ive ever owned, i have one on both my dh bike and my xc.

DT Swiss 440 Freeride Thru Bolt Is 6 Bolt (MSRP $528.5) — These hubs have been purposely designed to withstand huge amounts of abuse by downhillers and freeriders. At the end of the day the 440 hub stands the highest, whether it is on the top step of the podium or having launched the biggest rock drop.

Specifications Compare to other Hubs

Price $529
Weight 387 g
Color Options Black
Hub Bearings Stainless Cartridge Bearings
Spacing 135
Spacing - most forks use a 20mm thru-axle (QR20), quick release/QR (9mm), or now, a 15mm hub. It is important to know which hub your fork needs as standard quick release hubs cannot be converted to use with a 20mm compatible fork. However, there are reducers for some hubs that can go from 20mm to standard QR. Rear hubs typically come in two sizes. The first is 150x12 and the second is 135x10. However, some bikes do use a 165mm hub and 135x12. It is important to know which rear hub is required on your bike so it will be compatible.
