One of the best brakes Hayes has ever made.

Pro's: Weight, Master Cylinder design, reach adjust, modulation, and braking power.

Con's: Price, limited caliper adjustment, and hydraulic lines; but they are better than AVID's.

Great looking (in my opion) and fit for purpose brake. I ride all year round in the UK and they do the trick. I run just a rear Stroker trail on my hard tail and occasionaly do some down hill and I dont have to hold back pinning it upto berms thinking "are my brakes going to slow me down enough to not fly right over the top" where as I alsways had that doubt in my mind with the HOPE m4.

I have been running these brakes for about a year now in ALL conditions. Most definitely a large improvement over the HFX brakes. These brakes modulate extremely well, you can brake the exact amount you want at any time. However, they are not for those with weak hands. Elixirs are better for those who don't want to apply much pressure. It's like the difference between a lot of braking assist in a car or a stiff pedal with very little assist. These are in no way weak brakes or touchy brakes, but compared to the Elixirs they are harder to actuate.

Good brake. Is powerfull, but it's power is easy to tame (I know people saying that it has 'bad modulation'... but for me it's really OK). A way better than Avid bb7 and any V-brakes Smile Easy to bleed. Also, very important thing, it has really nice lever - for me is much more comfortable than any Avids one.

thease are apsaluitly fantastic i have them in 203mm size for downhill and there ace brakes the one problem i have with mine isnt necceserrily a bad one and i put it to never having previously owned a bike with hydraulic disk brakes, they are emmencly powerfull so powerfull that if you yank on them even the slightest bit hard you will go over the bars, but none the less they are amasing brakes good for anything you throw at them be it freeride,dh,xc or all mountain thease brakes can take it all!

I have these brakes and there really good. Great stopping power, light (for the amount of power) and the pads last ages. The tool free lever adjustment works great and they look sick!
The only problem I have with these brakes is that one of my levers is a bit loose.
Otherwise these these brakes are really good.

The Stroker trails have got a really nice feel to them, Good reach adjustment and you can brake as much as you want depending on how much you pull them unlike some other powerful brakes. I have been running them for around 8 months and the braking is still as powerful as when I first got them!

Very precis stopping power, I like the reaching adjuster, very easy to modify the distance between the handlebar and the brake lever, even still ridding. Also the design of the brake lever, is very ergonomic and comfortable for those riders who rides with his finger always on lever.
I don't like that the brake lever have some movements in the main body (sorry for my way of expressing in words)

Тормоза, не впечатляющие мощностью торможения, но они выполняют свою функцию на 150%. Эргономично выполненная ручка тормоза облегчает усилия нажатия пальца и регулировка подвода ручки позволяют настроить "как тебе удобно".

PROS: on-the-fly reach adjuster is great. great stopping power with the 8 inch front rotor but doesn't overpower my 6.5" travel bike until i really want to stop. great in the dusty conditions of the desert and bike parks, seem to do well in wet conditions too. great feel/modulation, whatever you want to call it, and lots of power on tap when you need it.

CONS: they will start to fade after prolonged braking (a steep park run of 20 minutes or longer). bigger rotors helped, though.

Good braking power even in Freeride,i ride it with 6 inch in rear and 8 inch in front and it never has left me alone, nice small handlegrips easely to adjust away or closer to your steer.Easy handling with one or two fingers so you can easely steer and brake at the same time

Great feel in them, there is a lot of adjustment in the reach which is pretty good if you have small hands and your friend has big hands and vice versa. My hands fit a glove size medium and I made the lever go out quite a lot until o couldn't reach the leavers and there was still quite a lot of adjustment. Do not let the word "trail" put you off them because they are very powerful brakes! I have used them for street, dirt jumping, trails and a bit of FR. They work fine for everything and are brilliant in the rain! These are also at a great price considering how powerful they are so I would go for it and buy them.
Comparison: elixir R. Hayes stroker trails have a lot more feel and in my opinion a lot more power. I am glad I got these and not elixirs.

I love these brakes, almost as much as my Stroker Ace. Excellent modulation under pressure, lower heat issues, quite a bit of free adjustments. Love the tool free pad removal as well. All in all, these are some sweet brakes, and the price I could not pass up.

Very good brakes. Really powerful and with a good modulation. BUT if you want to make them EVEN BETTER you just need to bleed them with DOT 5.1 (and NOT DOT 4 as said in the manual). I don't remember where I found this tip but when I did so I was impressed. They became absolutely fantastic! Modulation increased a lot and they became even more powerful. I'm really glad that I bought these brakes.

Probably my favorite feeling brake for the amount of money they are worth. Just running an 8" rotor in the front and the tool less adjustment makes these awesome. I am also a big fan of the vertical reservoir they dont look chunky on the bars.

Ive been using these hydros for around 6 months and so far have had no issues with them. They stop me very well even at my weight (146kg). I bought the 203mm version but had to drop the rear to a 160mm as it wouldnt fit my frame so be sure to check first.

Pefect breaks for the rider thats looking for great performance and price point, not to mention style.
Ergonomics! forget about it, this lever has so much adjust ability its crazy!
Breaks well and is great for DH and anything below.
Only thing is that the break pads seem to loose unless you bend the clips (inward a little) at the back of each pad so that they grab and hold inside the caliper body better. Do this at your own risk** tho it worked for me.

Solid brake, cheap, relatively light, and stop on a dime! There is little to no brake fade even after a long 15 minute descent full of super steep sections, and they are also extremely easy to bleed. one issue i do have is I'm not a fan of the feel of the lever, but i'm really nitpicking here, it is a fantastic brake overall and I would reccomend it to anyone!

PROS: Quick adjustable reach for the perfect leaver posistion. Amazing stopping power. Good modulation. CONS: Noisey sintered-metal pads.

I bought the V7 set and couldn't be happier with them. Massive upgrade over the BB5 mechanical.

While I do run Hayes Stroker Trails on both my Santa Cruz bikes, I half recommend these brakes. For the money (~$60 pricepoint) they can't be beat. Are they the best brake out there? Hell no. But they do what they are supposed to do,; stop you. NOTE: be very careful with the master cylinder cap screws. The screws barely thread into the holes due to too short of fasteners used, so you'll easily over-torque/strip the first couple threads. You can replace all of these (and I would recommend that you do) with just a touch longer fastener. There is thread there to support this. If you strip the holes, you've technically voided your warranty. True story.

Hayes, you should really be using thread inserts instead on running steel fasteners into an aluminum housing!! C'mon man!! ENG 101...

Overall, good brakes, but be careful if you ever work on em.

Really nice brake. I use it for Freeride, Downhill and even Dirt Jumping (true the 203mm rotors aren't necessary). Good control after you get used to them. I used to ride a pair Hayes Nine, had them on two of my bikes and loved them. Upgraded to Hayes Stroker and still have love for Hayes. Good brakes, good price.

Good modulation, fairly powerful, looks clean. I had a few issues with the sticking master cylinder, but this was just an issue with the first batch and you can get it fixed for free. Great brake for AM/FR/light DH. The reach adjustment is nice, and it self-adjusts very well.

This thing is great. It stops when you need em. They are adjustable so they fit anybody's hand. The only thing i don't like about them is their a little bit on the expensive side.

Amazing modulation with enough just enough stopping power in a light package. I run these on my Dh race bike and when paired up with the semi metallic pads, these brakes makes sure you're always in control of your bike.

Pretty good brake, stops me, hasnt failed on me yet. On occasions it does get squeaky, and i notice a bit of fade. Id suggest this to the weekend warrior or to the guys on a budget for a decent brake.

Hayes Stroker Trail (MSRP $235) — The Stroker Trail improves on the Ryde in a number of ways, beginning with an indexed, tool-free reach-adjust dial that makes setup a snap. The caliper features an adjustable banjo for tight, snag-free hose routing, plus Hayes' signature tool-free pad removal. The Stroker Trail also boasts a greater hydraulic ratio than the Ryde, for enhanced stopping power and modulation. No wonder the Stroker Trail has already been ridden to numerous World Cup championships.
