This is a great bike for a beginner dirt jumper. It has an aluminum frame whis is fairly strong but steel would be stronger. The bomber shocks are very nice as well. I think it has too many cords tho. it would be better if it would be singlespped and with no front brake. bi taking that off you might get the bikes weight dow till 29 pounds. Overall a very nice bike, with cool design!

 Strong, cheep and it rips.
The shred jumps really well for a cheap priced bike. It is a high quality bike for a entry level price. It has the smae frame as the cowan or the stuff. The diffrences are the fork(it is still a really good fork but it does not have many external adjustments), the brakes, the derailer, the cranks. If you want to make some up grades get hydraulic disc brakes.

This bike has lots of room for improvement, which is a good thing. If you ride this completely stock, You will be very disapointed in a couple of weeks though. Why? The chain always falls off because of your cheap derailleur (Kona needs to fix this problem). Also all the parts are super bulky and heavy.

Nice Bike, I ride the Shred 2-4, this is the Shred, anyways both great bikes!

The Shred 2-4 has more of a bend in the frame near the seat stem, where the Shred just is straight.

I recomend both bikes for Trails, Dirt Jumping, and Freeride/Freestyle

solid bike not premium but extremely tuff and fun. emphasis on tuff and great for dj, ok for the mountain, pretty good for urban mines got tuffer cranks because i broke mine dropping a 25 foot tall stair so anyone whos not completely insane could pretty much never break one.(in not insane my friend dared me).

great dirt jump bike. used to own one. They're a little heavy mine weighed in at around 34 LBS completely stock but they're BOMBPROOF!!! the DJ3's are a little heavy at 7 LBS but they're pretty plush though not a lot of adjustment
overall, I would rate this a 5 out of 5.

Kona Shred 2010- This is the perfect starter bike to get you into proper mountain biking. It runs well on rough terrain and is very easy to throw around.

Only problem ive ad in the two years i've owned it is that the front deraileur and front shifter have both broken twice. don't know why this hasn't happened to the more complex rear derailleur.

But all round a really good bike, especially if you buy one off pinkbike or ebay second hand, that way it will be much cheaper Smile

I like this bike alot! Its my bike that isn't from taget. and so far I love it! Pros: Great all around bike, can tackle any type of rock you throw at it. throw at it.
Cons: hard to adjust fork. cant handle socks. (trust me Ive thrown a few socks at it)

Every shred is a good shred. They have great shocks, a great frame and is really good on the trails. The only down side is that the brakes loosen up alot and the gears get hard, but besides those two things this bike is great for hitting jumps and ridin around town.

I rented this bike at a park and used it to do black diamond downhill trails. THey let me rent it for free so I wasn't going to complain when they wouldn't let me have a Stab or something. It took the beating like a champ, and felt perfect compared to what I would have expected.

This bike i own soo i can tell you every thing about it,
it isnt the lightest, but isnt the heaviest bike iv rode, it is great for down hill and prety good for DJ, but i recomend getting it in a small size because of how much eazier it is to throw around.

i recomend this bike for beginers, but i must be onest im no beginer and i ride this bike soo, soo if your not a beginer you dont have to feel liek one when riding this bike.

dont buy it, at all, go buy a eastern traildigger, or a specialized p2 or 3 if you need the gears.they look better and are worth the extra money. take it from someone who hates theirs

Good bike to start out riding light DH/freeride on and very stable to ride. Quite good components for the price, and has good potential to upgrade parts in the future.
