Kona Stinky

 Lots of squish for the price. I snagged an ex-rental for 1500$, and haven't looked back since. Mine's spec'ed more like the Stinky Deluxe, but the frame performs great, and with the Dope system feels just beautiful. The bike definitely surprised me with it's maneuverability also. Only thing that sucks is the fact that the seat hits the rocker arms when it's too low.

 My mate has one, but I have ridden it quite a few times. At first thought it was really heavy, and the suspension felt a bit squishy compared to mine. However, I think the Stinky is a very underrated bike. For the money, the spec is bombproof and I'd recommend it to someone starting out DH or trying some freeriding as the value is pretty top notch. It's confidence inspiring and can eat up anything when you eventually get the damn thing moving. So I suggest you swap the tyres for something less heavy unless you live in a constant mud hole of rain and rocks and roots.

 Theres been a lot talk about kona and there products of the stinky, however this new model cures all of it. The magic link is working really well, the bottom bracket hieght is just right to feel confident jumping with but not too low to hit a rock. It soaks up everything in its path once the shox has been broken into. the brakes are great. Awesome bike, im changing my shox to a fox van r, but its not something that needs doing straight away. kona are stepping there game up...

 dispite the fact i tested the 08 stiny it dont look much differint(components not colour)it took any thing i could through at it (even a steep shingle slope) though i do say it is and onyl is ment to go down hill and on trails as cycling this beast on the road and flat does realy make you exsausted!!

 the kona stinky is all around great freeride bike,
the component selection is not anything fancy. but it works.
as a whole it is a bit heavy but for gravity riding thats not a problem. i upgraded the fork and after that it wasnt bad.

 this bike s great. i got it for £1000. it rides so smooth. some people say not to buy a kona but i dont see why not. i have had no problems aqnd have had it for a year only needed new grips and new tubes. i love this bike and love the waay it looks. buy it if you know whats best. its best in a smaller size if you your into freeride and slopestyle riding and doing alot of tricks. the seat post is super long so youll probally want to chop it down but takes super long cause its built like a tank.

 this bike is pure DOOM!! its insane! i love how good it looks as a single crown DH/freeride bike! i have the 2008 and its sooo dece! the only thing thats not a pro is the POS roco shock. i upgraded that to a DHX 5.0 and the bike just wrecks anyone in its way!

A little bit heavy but its a Tank!
Takes drops, flights and Rock gardens with ease. If I had to complain, it would be that at real high speeds its a little bit too sensitive and can get very snappy. Other than that I love mine to the fullest. I have 40's on there for DH races. Yes a FR bike racing DH, np with the stinky

 i don't have this new one but i love this thing it's the shiz i huck this bike over creek and through the wood and it just land any thing with out any bottoming out even if it's 20ft all the way to 50ft would want to ride any thing other than the one and only kona stinky

 This bike has great rear and front travel, it is worth the money, this bike is smooth whether your mountain biking or just riding down the street, it is great because you can sell it for just as much as you bought it for 2 years later. But the rear suspension does take a lot of maintenance and costs you alot of money but that is the only problem with it.

 I had one of these a few years ago and it was fun. For an entry level DH/FR bike this is the one to go for. They are selling for cheap all over if you don't want a brand new one. Only fault with these are the pivot system, bearings. I found they can either be too tight or not tight enough which makes them go loose quickly. Good handling and feel to these rippers!

 im running an 07 pretty much stock stinky, only added a blackspire chain guide. This bike is pretty amazing, great for beginners but can handle anything a pro can throw at it. A little on the heavy side and the sizes are a little odd. The 4x swing arm with the fox 3.0 is all i need. Strong, reliable all in all a perfect ride.

 An all time classic. I used to have a 2007 model but due to unforeseen circumstances I don't anymore. The Stinky looks kinky and it feels it as well. A great beginners downhill bike, and no matter what at the bottom of the trail you'll have a big smile on your face. Although the build is dialled, I wasn't 'feeling' (pun alert) the rear shock. Don't take this bad boy up a hill!

 It does the the job. What more can you ask for cheap and strong as anything. The travel does its job at soaking up the big hits. I absolutely love mine. It does suffer from brake jack and the frame is reasonably heavy. but strong, light and cheap you can only get two. I cant recommend it enough.

 I got a 2004 Stinky frame bought it second hand it was my first DH Bike and came with Marzocchi triple monster T forks first thing I did was take it to Fort William and It got me down the world cup track a few times that day its a great bike.

 I did not much care for the stinky. The componets were pretty bottom quality and although the 2010 model saw a ton of improvements in that area the 2009 was lacking significantly. It rode heavy and in general felt loose. Granted it was not a dialed in for me since I was borrowing it, but in general I went with a different route since it was so far from what I was looking for.

On the flipside you got to give a little recommendation since it is a cheap bike for freeriding and a proven suspension design. Its plush just expect to spend a little $$ and time getting it dialed for your ride style!!!

 Rode a rental Stinky Six (150mm travel and a dual ring setup) for a week in Les Gets. It was able to handle everything in the area, which includes some uphill. It was pretty good for pedaling, considering how heavy it is, but I had to be smooth or it would sink into the suspension. Obviously though the Stinky is for going downhill, not up and it's perfectly capable in that role. It eats big hits for breakfast and has reasonable small bump absorption. Breaking bumps are another matter, but you'll feel them on any bike.
The only real problem I had was with the brakes. Mine was specced with Hayes Stroker Rydes and 180mm discs front and rear. It definitely would have benefited from a 200mm up front, 180mm was simply didn't offer enough power. There was a problem with the reach adjust too: they seemed to regress towards the bars until they reached them without going throught the full stroke. I would then have to stop and adjust them, very annoying!
Overall it's a great all-round freeride bike, which I highly recommend.

 I have a garbanzo, which is basically a reinforced stinky, and the bike OWNS! It descends like a beast, and hit crabbaple hits at Whistler (40+ foot tables) like a pump track. That aside I've crashed these things, and I can tell you, they Do-Not-Break!

 i think that this is an amazing bike because it looks sweet and i have an 06 kona stinky. I don't use mine for downhill too much but i do use it for dirt jumping i no it sounds dumb but it is a very durable bike which is why i bought it

 Apart from the new colors, I still love the Kona Stinky. Have a 2003 frame and would never give it away. The newer models, since 2005 are sort of known for breaking in the rear part. Nevertheless the frame has an awesome geometry. Back in 2003/2004 they were shorter and higher giving you more freedom than most DH bikes, now they made it longer and flatter, which will give you more ability in DH perspective but less in all other regions. The Stinky turned out to be the Stab's little brother.

 This bike is really a great freeride/downhill machine after a few things are changed to suit the rider. I bought an 07 stinky, and it (unfortunatly) had the marzocchi dropoff triples. I later replaced it with an 08 marzocchi 66, which made it lots better. I have a 15" frame and a really light suspension setup, so its pretty well suited for me, a 13 year old rider.

 the rear suspension is awsome, not just how it looks how it rides as well! i'd get it in black and white though, as riding on a red and blue kona genrally makes you look like a hippie!

 fun bike can handle just about anything i throw at it but i would recomend useing a chairlift even though it is really light for a full sus or maby i am just not fit enough to ride up hill

 this is my most favourite DH/freeride bike ever. its the rear suspension system that i love. It is also a very strong bike. the con about it is the new 2009 models. i dont like the paint jobs on them. i like the 07-08 models better.

 My friend's got one Stinky, this bike is amazing, very fast. It's very beautiful to. If you are starting, this frame is perfect to you because it's not expensive and is the right size to everybody.

 Love this bike its awesome rides well drops so well off the big stuff the problem is the rear shock is not so great but it does the job its so beautiful to ride corners well best bike ever

 I got an 08 model, Pretty sweet with a Roco tst and a Dope kit. Add a 2.8 front tire and it's a really good ride. nice at high speeds, but not so great on small birms at low speeds. But still pretty nice.

 ride is nice and smooth though standard bike is quite weighty brakes are awsome athough they have a bit of a noise under braking all in all the bike is just generally a nice ride

 I have the 2008 model. The geo is spot on for going fast ad big, but at low speeds it gets a little cumbersome. Brake jack isn't much of an issue, and don't listen to the haters out there.

 I know you probably shouldn't do it but was wondering if anyone knows if you can swap out the rear linkage for a more slacked one if it matches the frames geometry? Dumb question I know but was curious

 If your going for an all round freeride or downhill bike you cant go wrong with one of these bad boys only thing i would suggest is get one from 2004 - 2008 the newer one's seem to be a lot heavier

 Excellent starter freeride 2008 model for the money. If you can change out the Hayes brakes for Codes or Saints would be better.

 this is a sick bike and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get into biking. This is my favorite bike, I even ride as my down hill bike.

 This is a really nice bike. Fits perfect for me. Nice suspension front and back. Brakes can stop on a dime. Looks really sweet too.

 I liked it a lot ! Had an 06 Wish I never traded it. Was fast very stable at high speed flat-out bombing down the hill runs. Never bottomed out

 The Stinky is a living legend in my book!
Have the 2007 model with a 66 sl1 fork and it does it all...

 66ers are still a bit stiff after a few rides, hope theyll loosen up. frameset is amazing, plush as the hind leg of an arabs donkey! Heavy, but thats why you buy one!! 10/10

 great stock components, plush ride, stable, and fast. I've had mine since December now and still love it, I'm upgrading the rear shock because of poor small bump performance.

 This is just the classic freeride bike. its been around for a long time and knows what and how to hit big stuff! Love it and bought mine ages ago!

 Konas Rock because the shox are sick and it the bike handles like a dream but the
rear derailleur broke in the first 6 months but i replaced with a saint

 one of the best known bikes speaks for its self, looks stunning and has a paarts list to go with it three of my friendds have thease and love them.

 Like the old frames. Ride a 2001. Easily upgradeable. Pretty heavy but a gravity bike so who gives a f*ck. Definatley punches some face.

 Have the 2007 Model, only con is that the head angle is a bit steep for serious DH but other than that, amazing bike!
