I bought these forever ago wanting a set of cranks that would never break. I remember laughing at the lifetime warranty at the time - I thought this would a ticket to fresh crank arms ever year... its been 6 years on these, they've done it all: down trails; jumping stairs; riding to school; and have been removed and installed countless times on original hardware. This is beyond a five star. I only found myself at this page to find out what these had for claimed weight - by modern standards these are heavy!

I've had these on several of my bikes and they are a definite favorite as I do have a tendency to bend and brake cranks. They are really confidence-inspiring and the stiffness of the crank really gives you a very direct force-transfer feel.
The down-side is the weight and the un-ergonomic design. In my opinion the design is deliberately trying to give of a 'burly' and machined look leaving some excess metal that could probably be taken away without sacrificing performance. I'd really like to see what the FEM analysis of these would show. The design is also quite sharp and has a tendency to scrape your ankles (if yours are bony like mine).
If RF would trim some fat of these and give the arms a bit rounder and more forgiving shape I would indeed call them the best freeride crank.

i know these weigh the same as a large family car but i love them, yes the BB bearings are a bit ropey and don't last as long as you'd hope they would but i've fitted Hope ceramic cups which are fantastic and all is well. they are supremely stiff and strong and as long as you use something like copper grease on the pedal threads you'll never have a problem there either, if you don't however be prepared for them to grip the threads like you'd never think possible.

Super sturdy and reliable. Its a plug and play component, easily installed and easier to smash on. These cranks are like a good house wife, they'll be there for you through thick and thin, and are always ready to get dirty! Go with the Bad Ass Black...

strong, short, and sweet. my girlfriend thinks they're sexy and so do I. they're a bit heavy, but what hurts you makes you stronger right? wait two weeks and you'll be able to cut cheese with your calves for those poorly planned wine tastings we all know you attend on a regular basis. bottom line: your bb. is gonna break before these cranks will.

super solid and looks good, feel really well planted on the bike (it'S wide) and stable at any speed and you can put lots of load on them. got them for a good deal because I found them a bit over price...but at least you got what you paid for. good quality.

Heavy and expensive with a poor BB lifespan seems to make them seem hopeless. However unrivaled strength and rigidity definitely brings them back up. Pedal inserts seem like a gift today in the quest for the lightest cranks but inserts are definitely a must for DH. The x-type system is flawless and compatibility with other BBs is another plus. I got these stock on an older bike and it's the only thing I've moved onto my new build. If you've got the money why not, but I'd advise a new BB (Hope ceramic). Andy

very solid cranks, they are the last cranks u will ever need to buy as long as you dont count grams. ive beat these in to the ground and then some.

cons,
heavy
feet rubbing on the sides and anodizing came off

pros
super stiff, no flex at all
super strong and long lasting
great for getting the power to the ground

brilliant cranks set, no flex what so ever, makes you feel so much more confident, the only downside is the BB which is Sh*t, it won't last over 4 months unlike some of the shimano or hope ones. But other than that there the best bit about my bike :-)

Rock solid cranks set. Weighs just under 1200 grams, which isn't too bad for a DH/FR crank. These cranks are bomb proof, solid bb, provided you have the raceface FR bb.
I'm a big guy, and these cranks had no flex what-so-ever for me. I love my diabolous', but they are a little overkill for my all mountain bike.

I am currently running this crank on my street bike, but I bought it for my v10. It has been preforming flawlessly. There is absolutely no flex in the arms at any time, which give a lot of confidence. The only problem, which isn't serious, is that on the black ones, the paint fades to a very dark purple after about a season. This isn't noticeable except when they are examined closely. It looks like the Sharpie black

super beef ass cranks that can handle a big rider on a big bike. being 6'4 230 pounds I have bent a few other weaker cranks but not these bad boys. plus the not need tools to take them off the bb are fantastic

Had these on my downhill bike and even used them for an XC bike when money was low. They took a beating. Even survived undamaged from a collision with a car. Excellent strength. Only downside is that they're a bit heavy.

i have them on two bikes. stiff as hell! rather heavy, but if you want a beefy crankset, this'll do it. steel pedal thread inserts are also a bonus. best of all, they look siiick.

Extremely stiff, looks sweet, a little bit heavy but who cares when you have a crank that can handle whatever you can throw at it and it just asks for more.
