I built my Jackal up as a single speed this year and have been very impressed with it so far. The frame is very strong and I haven't any issues with durability.
Some of the pros I've come up with is that it is a very fast and fun ride. The short chain stays make it easy to manual and maneuver in the air. Mine built up pretty light for a DJ bike at just under 27lbs with a heavy FourX fork. Another thing I thought was cool were the drop outs. You can adjust the wheelbase if you run gears or adjust the chain tension on a single speeder very easily with the sliding dropouts.
So far I haven't really come up with any cons. It can rattle you a little bit on harsh landings, but you should know that the frame is aluminum going into it; I haven't minded.
Overall, a very fun, fast easy to ride bike that's well worth the money!

thing - Jump. There aren't any fancy suspension links to talk about, notions like ride comfort and bump compliance don't apply. It's all about short, stiff chain and seat stays, the right feel when transitioning from ground to air and back, a top tube that stays out of the way when throwing legs over it, and a frame that's strong enough to stick every landing and handle every time the landing goes wrong.

Being a fan of santa cruz bikes, i like to know the news on the newest bikes, especially for dirt jumping which is probably the reaso why im really into the sata cruz jackal. The models that started from built kits to 2008 model frames with the humps look very beasty and are awesome looking but they're heavy and as the pros complain, some tricks aren't possible to do by the pros because of the hmp in the fron. The nw inproved jackal frame doesn't have that and it looks like a normal frame but when you look at the weight and other issues on it, its more advanced than a usual frame that you would get on a dirt jumper like a black market.

I love this bike. Rear drop outs are very easy to work with, nice low stand over, whips around nice and spins like a dream. Definately worth the price. I ride a standard size and it fits me nice at 5 11". Great frame by a reliable and top notch manufacturer.

Awsome frame, love mine. The geo feels great. My favourite thing about it is the nifty adjustable rear drop-outs.The only bad thing I can think off about mine is that the badge fell off the head tube after afew weeks.

I love this bike (I have the 08 model though), long story short it handles well, manuals easy, and is pretty solid and I feel no flex. only downside is the 72 mm BB creating clearance problems with my cranks.

i used to think this was a good deal/

I am thinking about building one up and was wondering if you had a list of components you used to build it up.
