Excellent design, rock solid feel, super grippy with just skater shoes let alone some nice five ten shoes or similar. The pins are solid, easy to replace, and the lightweight titanium axle upgrade option is an excellent touch. Was going to get some Crank Brothers 5050 but fell in love with these and glad i did!
I have the nylon version of these VP-69N which are 270g. I upgraded to the titanium axle which works for either the metal VP-69's or nylon VP-69N's. The Ti axle shaved about 60g so the set is now 210g. Not bad for a sturdy mountain pedal. The nylon pedals are not as grippy as the metal ones because they use nylon nibs rather than metal pins for grip. I think they are way safer and I find them plenty grippy enough with regular skater shoes.

VP-69 is optimized for sticky shoes with 6 pins per side on a concave platform that grips the sole, our tallest and sharpest pins, and ten colors. The bodies are built to withstand rock strikes and the pin areas have been reinforced as well.
VP-69 is fully rebuildable with the available Rebuild Kit and you can also drop 70 grams off of the set with our Forged Titanium Axle upgrade kit.

Style - Pedal’s are only found in 2 different syles, flat and clip. Flat pedals are most common; consisting of a platform you place your foot on, and usually some pins for traction. Clips are more cross country, or racer orientated, meaning you are strapped into the pedal.
