Concept & execution of taking a shiny plastic shell and slapping a thin, fragile layer of matte varnish over the top could only have come from the mind of someone who has never worn a helmet. Even roadies set helmets down on tables while drinking coffee!

@fiftypercentsure: While I also have two serviceable steel frames from the 80s, your screen name is at rather glaring odds w/ your sales pitch on that old frame. A hardtail frame consists of 9 tubes. Did you use an endoscope camera to inspect the insides of all of them? When I tilt my steel frames to drain after a rainy ride, rust comes out the drainholes. And there is also rust where chips have gone through paint & primer, which is what the OP was actually referring to.

^This. Addix fixed the wear rate of the rubber, but not the knob configuration. Knobs still shear clean off the casing when they hook up with jagged rock. This behavior is unique to Schwalbe.

@lev3000: Chinbars on the best trail-oriented fullfaces result in no appreciable reduction of airflow to the face: it is the pads below & in front of the ears that restrict airflow and cause heat buildup. What is wrong with these "moto" style 3/4 helmets is they feature all the weight & airflow downsides of an IXS or TLD fullface with none of the facial-protection benefits for no reason other than following fashion.
