The rest of the world started brining in laws to make manufacturers design their vehicles to be safer when they crash into someone. Lower and rounder front ends to encourage the pedestrian to go over the top and not dragged under, increased fields of vision, bigger and softer crumple zones to absorb impact, recessed wipers so as not to catch on the person struck to name but a few.
Hells bells, they’re even forcing HGV companies to start designing better safety and visibility etc into their lorries.
Meanwhile in Yankee Doodleland the average family car weighs the same as a small bus, had a grill so high you can’t see children or some adults right in front of you, has huge blind spots (like the small Lorrie’s they mimic), is as agile as a beached whale and all the design nuance of a toilet block.
