Tomorrow will be a sad day my friends......

There has been a great disturbance in The Force.......

This is a story about a man, a garage and a refrigerator. Some may know the whole story, others may know only bits of the history, some may have been contributors and some may have even scoffed. But in the end, to this manchild it means a lot.

NukeProof Snap build parts acquisitions keeps on rolling. The DJ1 will work til I get a new fork.....at least is will look good with the frame haha.

The journey began in 2009 when my wife and I moved into my current residence owned by the dastardly SlumLord Jeff, aka Father-In-Law. This house, nay home, is the first in my adult history that came attached to a garage I could call my very own, therefore my excitement was unbearable. Since I hate the tawdry terminology of man-cave, I deamed my personal Valhalla would be aptly referred to as The Fortress of Solitude even though I am far from being Superman, plus I ain't gonna wear tights bro. But it is my home away from home within my home, my 'me' time for my absorption with my bikes. Due to my love for stickers I was stoked like a newborn crackhead when I knew I would finally be blessed to use the most prolific canvass imaginable for the presentation of these fine vinyl accessories. So you bet your butt that one of the first things I did was move in the ever important garage fridge and commence to stickerfying that lil bastard up. After almost 4 years, many emails to bike companies, gifts from friends and too many SASE’s to count…….the Fridge was looking pretty stylish I must say and I was nearing to the end of available real estate for any more stickerification.

Recognize Someone

Then tragedy struck, The Fridge was diagnosed with an inoperable terminal illness which only left me one choice, sad but true. A sad day for sure it was when I accepted the fact that my FOS roomy, comrade and confidant was soon to become a permanent fixture in the great heavenly icebox in the sky. Oh the laughs we have shared over a cold one that I could only thank the Fridge for. The tears that we have shed together, trying to find that one tool that “I just had in my hand!!!” But those times are going to come to an end tomorrow when the kitchen upgrade fridge arrives and the current kitchen cold-heart makes the short trip to it’s new surroundings in the desirably lonesome garage shop I call FOS. The world famous Fridge will be hauled away to become a distant memory and to add insult to injury, the newly purchased fridge cost enough to pretty much buy any bike frame of my wanting, I am a monster if not a criminal I swear. Our journey together has been a good one and the story will be told for years to come, that I am sure of. I wish you nothing but riches my friend and hope beyond admiration that you get to be resurrected as a pivotal component for any of the fine Italian sports cars made. Godspeed my dear friend, godspeed……

Last pic just in case......

However, as they say……when one fridge door closes, another one opens. So as a the blank canvass of the Fridge II settles into it’s new home I am now taken aback at how unprepared I am for it’s arrival. Fridge II is larger, don’t dare call it portly, in size so that means more square footage in need of the vinyl love. I have to start all over and taking inventory of the stickers I have I clearly do not have the amount or variety needed to show my admiration that this new addition deserves. I will start the process once again, the emails have already started and my customary Polish racing flag center-piece sticker is on it’s way. Also, for this go-around I figured I would not only create this blog as a deserved send-off to The Fridge with all of it’s sage advice, but also as a call out to anyone with maybe that collection of stickers with no means to proudly display them in all of their glory. So for my friends here that want to be a piece of history on the level of rebuilding Atlantis, I figure that having something from a bike riding compadre is far more meaningful than the faceless requests to the bike companies. Let me know if there is anything that you as the fellow vinyl soldier may want to represent on the new representation of infinite feats, Fridge II, by donating to Flip's StickerLess Fridge Foundation.

Thank you for taking the time to pay you respects to the world renowned, the frost fighting king of freon, holder of 2 Guiness records and just in general, a cool cat…….The Fridge I.

P.S. Still a better love story than Twilight……..

That's my favorite part of the whole thing I think. Needs a sticker of his mugshot also.

Hahaa, kitchen in the sky is good and thanks, I was pretty tired when I wrote this so I thought it wasn't the best effort, hahaa. Yeah, that's the ShamWow guy, my buddy custom made it for me as a surprise. If anything I will try to peel him off for the new arrival.

ShamWow sticker is epic; you must salvage it. I think I have some extras for the cause
  • 1 0
Yeah, no other choice than to peel him off since he's on the side. Gonna take Ninja amounts of concentration though...... Thanks man, I'll PM you my addy and I can PP you some stamp costs.

You could also easy cut the side and front panel with a angle grinder with a zip disc and hang them up like paintings , it is easy done, of course only if You don't have another use for the broken fridge .

Yeah totally, that's what I was planning on doing. Btw, thanks for reading!

Sucks to hear that a close friend has expired... But FKN aye let that friend hold Rifles and AMMO! Or Bike parts like airmiller44 suggest.. Hell I would also hang the door in the Bat Cave bro... Work of art indeed..

Love the Bat Cave reference man! As you can tell by my profile pic I kinda dig The Batman, hahaa. I just got the call from the delivery people and they said it was cool to keep the doors so that's cool, I'll see if I can get just the metal away from the insulation first. Just don't have the room for the whole thing......but still stoked I can keep the doors.

Wow,what a heart warming story, but u should take the door off and hang it on the wall in its pride of place
  • 1 0
Yeah I'm thinking of that but it will depend on a couple of factors. First the delivery guys are calling me tonite to set up the delivery time for the new one and they're the ones taking The Fridge so I want to see if for any reason they wouldn't take it if it's missing the doors cause I need them to take it away. Then I also want to see how easy it would be to strip just the exterior from the insulation cause I don't wanna be hanging the bulky doors on the wall, just flat sheets if I can.

Dude.. i saw this in Spain peeling a metal plate off a window glued on with silicone..! Grind a cut around the sides.. and slid in a wire .solid thin. Wont work i think..but a gear cable..a rough one you need a friend with this.. take 2 spools or wood sticks as handles.. winding the end of the cable around them...and just saw l to r ... The wire will tend to keep to the hardest surface.. the metal sheet

Is it possible to prise the laminate with all the stickers off of the fridge?

Hahaa, thank you. These are actually old pictures even, it has even more for it's send-off as it is.

um that fridge could be used to hold bike parts you dont have to toss it !
  • 1 0
That's actually a great idea dammit! But I don't have the damn room for that dammit. I would if I got rid of the damn elliptical in the garage that I bought for the wife costing me over 700 damn dollars that's only been used like 5 damn times.
  • 1 0
why did you put poland as your country lol nobodys going to sell you parts! haha
  • 1 0
Hahaa, that's where I was born, moved to the USA when I was 3yo. So just a little while ago I decided that whenever there is a POD from Poland I am going to change my location to Grójec Poland to represent the Motherland. Just another of the stupid things that goes on in my head, hahaa. Plus, I gotta have $$$ to buy parts anyway.......not so much these days, hahaa.

Hahaha I've tried to buy exercise equipment for my wife on more than one occasion, and it ALWAYS backfires somehow and usually in more ways than one!
  • 1 0
So you feel my pain, hahaa, but she's the one that wanted it and I really thought she was going to use it, now I just feel like I've been duped.......pretty much a facepalm every time I go out to the garage, hahaa.

Yeah well I spend $40/month on my wife's gym membership that she uses every other month on a good year! Of course the time I bought her a set of free weights for her birthday was totally unsolicited and I definitely felt some heat...she still brings it up anytime a "worst gift of all time" conversation comes up
  • 1 0
Oh yes, the damn gym........I paid $50/mo for my wife's gym membership a while back that she didn't use for almost 2 years. But yeah man, if they don't ask for the equipment then you know, it's probably not gonna go over well, hahaa.
