Only a few days until the Vienna Air King marks the beginning of the 2012 Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour that once more searches for the One – the best freeride athlete in the world. A live video stream from the event on Sunday, April 1st will allow anyone who can’t make it to Vienna to follow the action from home. Another way to sweeten the wait until the action kicks off in Vienna is to check out the brand new FMB World Tour trailer. The clip tells the tale of the world’s best freeride athletes challenging each other in one breathtaking series to settle who will take home the title of FMB World Tour champion.

For the first time this season, some of the biggest names in freeride mountain biking will meet in Vienna and grant us a first glimpse at who will dominate the FMB World Tour this year. Over the past years, each FMB World Tour has been raising the bar ever higher and this year is sure to be no different: 2 Diamond events, 8 Gold events, 7 Silver events and a growing number of Bronze events will definitely make for an exceptional World Tour.

Riders planning to start their season in Vienna and wanting to collect ranking points at the Silver event, only have 3 days left to sign up with the Freeride Mountain Bike Association (FMBA) and become a licensed rider. To be part of the FMB World Tour, riders need to acquire either a professional (PRO) or amateur (AM) license to make their ranking points count. PRO license riders are able to collect points at all FMB World Tour events, AM riders only at Silver and Bronze events. One thing is the same for both PRO and AM riders: without a valid FMBA license before the event, no points will be counted.

Fans of freeriding who do not ride on a competitive level can also become members of the FMBA and support their sport. Each member can take advantage of many benefits such as prize reductions for bike park lift passes, magazine subscriptions or online bike equipment shops. To learn more about the FMBA and the benefits that come with a membership, make sure to drop by the FMBA tent at the Vienna Air King or check out the FMBA website: www.fmba.org.

could not agree more seeing how the Soda performs, I'm looking at getting one so it would be nice to see it in action before spending the money if not im going killswitch and Semenuk always rides solid esp with his "play ground" that was on fron the inside out.

Who is gonna win Rampage this year? I am rooting for Semenuk, but I have a feeling Zink is gonna give him a run for his money. That huge backflip Zink pulled at the old redbull site was insane. . .
  • 10 0
Darren Berrecloth? He might as well live in Utah...
  • 10 1
....whoever does 1 trick off a man made jump of course. The Claw... no way, he will create an inventive line down the mountain with loads of sick tricks thrown in. That can't win rampage.
  • 2 0
sick line, sick tricks should be on the podium of the rampage but to win it i think you've got to go BIG
  • 4 0
Gee went big. The only 1 to land that step down. Now that is big.
Everyone rode the wooden jump. Yet to find one of those wooden jumps on our mountains :o)

agree with jimbsport, but im hoping cam mccaul will rise up and pull something huge with his style an win for a change. if not, i think hunter should go. he is like the jedi master of freeride, hes the best and biggest, but all he has won in his life is a pie eating contest(seasons or follow me). i think steve smith should go rip it up and do his dirt jump tricks on a dh over huge, gnarly stuff.

I would love to see Cam Mccaul win it too! That would be awesome. I agree with betsie. It seemed like Zink's run in 2010 consisted of just is 360, which was impressive, but he should have added more into his run!

Sick!!!!! I hope Brandon semenuk blows everyone out of the water again!

I hope Mike Montgomery does well. He is the coolest guy...

It seems like all the big riders only hit the big events. There should be more gold events in europe. I think this would give some of the riders from europe a better chance. It would also force the american and canadian riders to make the trip to europe. Semenuk just hits the joyride or rampage and gets tons of points. Most european riders don't even fly to these events.
