Only a few days until the Vienna Air King marks the beginning of the 2012 Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour that once more searches for the One – the best freeride athlete in the world. A
live video stream from the event on Sunday, April 1st will allow anyone who can’t make it to Vienna to follow the action from home. Another way to sweeten the wait until the action kicks off in Vienna is to check out the brand new
FMB World Tour trailer. The clip tells the tale of the world’s best freeride athletes challenging each other in one breathtaking series to settle who will take home the title of FMB World Tour champion.
For the first time this season, some of the biggest names in freeride mountain biking will meet in Vienna and grant us a first glimpse at who will dominate the FMB World Tour this year. Over the past years, each FMB World Tour has been raising the bar ever higher and this year is sure to be no different: 2 Diamond events, 8 Gold events, 7 Silver events and a growing number of Bronze events will definitely make for an exceptional World Tour.
Riders planning to start their season in Vienna and wanting to collect ranking points at the Silver event, only have 3 days left to sign up with the Freeride Mountain Bike Association (FMBA) and become a licensed rider. To be part of the FMB World Tour, riders need to acquire either a professional (PRO) or amateur (AM) license to make their ranking points count. PRO license riders are able to collect points at all FMB World Tour events, AM riders only at Silver and Bronze events. One thing is the same for both PRO and AM riders: without a valid FMBA license before the event, no points will be counted.
Fans of freeriding who do not ride on a competitive level can also become members of the FMBA and support their sport. Each member can take advantage of many benefits such as prize reductions for bike park lift passes, magazine subscriptions or online bike equipment shops. To learn more about the FMBA and the benefits that come with a membership, make sure to drop by the FMBA tent at the Vienna Air King or check out the FMBA website: www.fmba.org.
