Perfect start for our riders at the first round of Citydownhillworldtour 2015 Tomas Slavik finished 2nd directly followed by GHOST teammate Johannes Fischbach in 3rd Well done guys

Athletes from all over the world came to Santos, Brazil, to compete at the first round of the City Downhill World Tour alongside the GHOST riders Johannes Fischbach and Tomas Slavik, with Filip Polc tabbed as the favorite to win. The technically challenging race didn’t make it easy for “Fischi”, but he fought hard and was able to finish in third place.

Last weekend, the international greats of the Downhill sport traveled to Santos, Brazil to compete in the Descida das Escadas de Santos, the first stop of the City Downhill World Tour Series. For the thirteenth time, Santos transformed itself into a Mecca of Downhill for the weekend.

GHOST-RR P Team rider Johannes Fischbach flew to Brazil right after the GHOST test camp in San Remo, Italy, with his Northshore bike as his luggage. “When I arrived and saw the track, I felt a little anxious at first. I knew the track from many videos – but in reality, some sections were really sick!” “Fischi” and his GHOST teammate Tomas Slavik did two training runs to get a feel for the track. During qualifying, 10 riders had the chance to make it to the final on Sunday. Johannes was one of them, finishing the qualifying in sixth place, trailing the winner by 0.8 seconds.

“I needed some time to get up to speed, but after a few runs, it went pretty well. It became obvious very quickly that this was going to be a super tight race!”

“Fischi” had a hard time finding his limit at this very difficult race. A crash on this track would have punishing consequences. But the final went great and the German Downhill rider came in third place behind his teammate Tomas. Filip Polc, the unbeaten winner from the past few years, confirmed his dominance in this competition and again ended up at the very top of the podium.

“This is my first time competing at this race series in Brazil. So I am really happy and content with my third place finish! The second round of the World Tour is up next weekend in Valparaiso, Chile. I was there last year, and naturally, that is where I will try to win.”
