GoPro should have a sister contest with only entries from non sponsored riders. I think they can afford it. It might expose the next Semenuk or Zink or whoever may not have been fortunate enough to be noticed in their one horse town.
@kubaner: most of the last entries aren't full on "pro's" these are guys who also have day jobs to pay the bills. Make a banger enough of run/video and anyone can be in to win!
@Clarkeh: I'm not bitching at the riders, I totally understand where they are coming from. But what I don't totally agree with is that sponsored, pro athletes can win on invite only courses. Kinda defeats the purpose of "best line" when the lines aren't even open to the vast majority. Plus, every winner of this so far has been a gopro sponsored athlete.
Its $25k for the whole pot. Monthly 1st place is $1200 . . .2nd place is $800. . . and a camera to 3rd. That runs for 5 months, and then the top 3 from each month duke it out for $15,000 grand prize.
@Scotj009: agreed, the one time i bring my go pro in water supposedly being water tight, they say its user error, i think not, i always put my go pro case on right, and now I'm out 400 and a gopro, who crappy customer service
@shredderIII most of those entries aren't full on "pro's" these are guys who also have day jobs to pay the bills. Make a banger enough of run/video and anyone can be in to win!
@boardnz: only Gopro sponsored guys have won: Remy Metailler, Joel Anderson, Fabio Wibmer, Vince Tupin. The list goes on and on and on. Last year @skijunky05 made a 'banger' video. And guess what? He lost to Fabio Wimer, who's clip was garbage compared to his.So no, you can't win unless you're sponsored.
@shredderIII: Remy I'm sure put that money to good use just like the rest of those guys. You all act like these guys just ride bikes all year. Guarantee they all work pretty hard to stack cash at some point in the year. Considering how accessible they are, we could ask!? @remymetailler do you work a job on top of riding your bicycle?
@remymetailler: Thanks for the response! This is why I love PB, talk to your heroes! So this is a perfect example, contests like this are exactly how guys like Remy are able to pay their bills and still shred like animals. Sure we'd all like to get play all the time but just as Remy put it, there's a lot more to being fast/skilled in the Mtb world. Adding a fitness plan has helped me achieve a lot of my goals this summer, I can't imagine how hard most of these guys are working in the gym to stay on top of their game.
Well it all started with and then who knows what happened but i do and then that's when it you know how does that happen lol? Any who, you can't really be sure that explain even after when it is why, you know?
1. We are all sick and tired of Gopro sponsored pros winning.
2. Please no more trials case scenes. We've already had enough of that.
