Pinkbike Awards: Comeback of the Year
You can't really have a comeback (I mean I guess he hadn't actually won a race in awhile, so maybe there is a bit of a comeback there, but still) from 5th overall in the WC. Being the 5th fastest man on the planet with a bicycle is pretty F'n impressive.

Pinkbike Awards: Comeback of the Year
One does not simply "Languish" as the 5th fastest man in the world... (overall WC finish in 2012) I completely agree that everyone WANTS Sam to be the winner, but I don't know that anyone can touch breaking your back and coming back to trounce everybody after being off the bike as long as Barel was this season. EWS rounds have proven over the past 2 years to be as tough and have as deep a talent pool as the WC, so to be able to do that is pretty impressive. Aaron did have a pretty good comeback this season, but I really want to see him start winning with multiple second gaps again before his comeback is complete.

Red Bull Rampage 2014: Qualification Results to be Finalized Saturday
They better push it back if the rain doesn't quit. We can't have 2 rampages in a row ruined by the weather. #letaggyin #raindelay

Red Bull Rampage 2014: McGarry's Crash
"You guys would have a heart attack watching Freeride World Tour events... they're just as gnarly, if not more than the Rampage and over the years, multiple people have died while competing. That's the nature of the game." Sure sounds like you accept athlete fatalities as "part of the game." Using ad hominem attacks on our reading comprehension shows a pretty low level of argumentative skill and understanding. "Well you are a poopy head so there!" Okay there third grader. That aside, I completely agree that comparing controlled and constructed race tracks to a completely natural setting is not the same. However, this canyon gap isn't natural, and it isn't hard to throw down some crash pads and a net in about 15 minutes (that includes the time to drill the holes in the ground for the net frame) and relieve some of the danger.

Red Bull Rampage 2014: McGarry's Crash
Its not a skewed view. I am looking at it as a realist. I am not doubting that they have good decision making abilities, but I do doubt that they would not compete because the sponsor isn't providing them safety equipment. I do watch and enjoy Rampage and the Freeride world tour. I realize that people are gonna die at some point when you are a part of the extreme sports community. But if you can limit risk and exposure without damaging the event, why wouldn't you?

Red Bull Rampage 2014: McGarry's Crash
Scott-townes: you really think that those guys would pull the plug? Lets look at the rider list and see how many of them have Redbull as a sponsor... what do you think would happen if you boycott a major sponsors event because they aren't providing for rider safety? I'm guessing you might have to start riding for monster or rockstar. Adding crashpads and catch nets to prevent people from, oh i don't know... FALLING INTO THAT CANYON if they short it? Give them a small chance at survival instead of just saying yea you get to plummet to your death. Have you ever heard of whistleblower laws? They exist because people are AFRAID to speak up when something is unsafe or unethical in the workplace, and the only way to make them talk it legal protection. Now you take some of the most tough guy people on the planet and tell them to go ride and you think they are gonna say something? probably not, regardless of how they feel.
