Joyride Slopestyle course

Joyride Bike Parks Inc have been hard at work creating the slopestyle course for this years Red Bull Joyride Event. Last year's course was good, and this year's is even better; by taking input from the riders and the judges the course has been built, shaped, and modified when needed, so that everyone is happy. The course features two main lines, a big line with 7 features, and the tech line with 11 features. By using input from the judges the lines have been built so that riders can achieve a similar score on either line. Of course riders on the tech line line will have to trick 11 jumps to achieve the same score as riders tricking the 7 big jumps.

The start is similar to last years, note that the ramp has been extended an extra 3 feet since this photo was taken to make it easier for riders to throw tricks such as front flips.

After the drop riders go through a big right berm that sends them across the run towards the first line choice.

This triangular ramp sends riders either right into a berm that crosses to the left and gaps over a rock section, or straight into another jump.

If you take the straight line you go up and over and down into a left berm that sends you over a roller and a small jump.

If you take the right line you go through a left berm and then over a small skip over the straight jump, and then over this jump over the rock pile.

Both lines send you towards the same jump, the left line is a little bit bigger and more of a hip than the smaller straight line on the right.

From there it's into this snowboard spine jump, you can land either left or right, or just go straight.

The left line sends you into this smaller trick jump...

Both lines come together again into these satellite dishes, while the middle line is simply a 60 foot gap over the whole thing. (don't worry, those wooden posts in the middle will be a lot shorter come event time.

Next up is the cabin, and this time it has two lines as well. One that goes up and over with a straight drop off the roof, and another on the left that has a kicker off the deck. No going through the cabin this year...

The landing for both jumps runs straight down into the village as per usual.

How they build jumps with grass so green?

Even if Semenuk gaps that whole thing I wouldn't be surprised if his bike broke landing... too massive. Still would be stoked to see it hah

sorry, but its a Trek. not going to happen
  • 13 2
^uhh what? how? treks arent know for their durability... go ahead neg prob me
  • 3 0
They build jumps first, them put seeds down, then put some funky green/yellow stuff on top. And they they threaten to kill anyone who walks on it.
  • 2 0
I like the grass on the sides of the jumps and stuff. Gives it a nice 'aged' look. Similar-ish look as the Post Office... But on 73 different types of steroids...
  • 1 0
They need to judge based on the line the rider chooses! What a sick course
  • 20 1
I kina think Zink is going to frontflip th 60 footer
  • 8 0
I want to see Zink or Straight or Brandon (or Aggy if he were riding) - one of the big mountain boys - take a bigger bike and create a huge new line by transitioning/gapping over some jump or two on the course super high speed, crush the 60 footer and then gap the cabin drop at speed like Steezysam said, with the run being a quarter of the time of everyone else's. That would be f-ing redonkulous, even with just a good moto whip or nac nac or straight backflip. I'm dreaming, but hey, that's what you do at work.

Where's the pool of alligators and the sharks with frikkin lazer beams?
  • 6 0
I thought "Hey these jumps don't look THAT big" Then saw the truck next to them, and people off in the distance. They're still big jumps.
  • 1 0
 That hip does look huge!!
  • 1 0
Yeah , from the 1st few shots those ramps looked about 5 feet tall , then you see the truck Big Grin
  • 7 0
I can see semenuk winning this already...
  • 3 0
I went up Whistler on Monday and the course looks unreal. It's absolutely huge in real life. Some of the jumps look like they don't have landings... then you realize they're just really really far from the take off.
  • 3 0
instead of having the cabin empty and useless.
why not have the redbull girls sitting inside chillin or something.
i think they should do something with forsure!
anyone else got an idea?
  • 3 0
agreed. the world could use more redbull girls
  • 8 3
yeah apart from the 60ft and the final jump. it looks like they have really tamed everything down ...
  • 7 0
Having walked the course this year, and last years i can safely say nothing has been tamed down. The start drop is longer and larger than last year, all of the landings are tighter requiring you to stick your tricks and get into the berm right away, and the gaps are bigger. THe gap over the satellite dishes is simply massive. Not only is it a true 60 foot booter, there is some serious carnage waiting for you in the gap if you come up short.
  • 6 2
Will any of the riders actually hit the 60 footer??? it looks very much like the big end gap at chatel mtn style and not many of the riders were throwing any real bangers of it?

Will just hitting the massive gap with a smaller trick be better than throwing a banger on the satellites?
  • 2 1
I asked that very question on the chair and got answer from one of the Joyride guys, and Cam Zink apparently specifically asked for the 60 footer. Plus whats the cash purse 25 grand? pretty sure these guys will be throwing down anything they can to win one of the only diamond stops on the tour.
  • 2 0
Absolutely! Especially considering the only other diamond event isn't exactly catering to riders who's bread and butter is slopestyle. As much as you need to throw down lots of tech, a huge whip over a 60 foot gap will earn some serious style points.
  • 2 0
i wonder if zink is planing on throwing a massive front on the 60, then his ever so popular 3 off the cabin
  • 2 1
Thing is if you do the 60fter your missing out on the huge hip, so your tricking one less feature that is fairly significant as well as missing the opportunity to trick both ends of the dishes.
  • 2 0
that may be true, but face it, if a rider throws down big on a 60ft it would be beyond insane, probably why they put it in. to equal it out.
  • 1 0
I was talking to Zink yesterday and i asked if he thinks everyone will hit the 60footer and he said definitey not everyone but he says if you want to win it you will have to hit it so expect him and a few others to hit it. He also said he thinks this years course is safer than last years.
  • 1 0
cam knows his stuff, its probably safer because you have so many options, so you can avoid something your not comfortable with. or possibly a better layout making it easier to get speed. on another note, where will the best trick be held?
  • 2 0
There have been some great courses this year, it seems like the designers are find that happy place where the jumps are huge, but not so huge the riders don't want to trick them. This should be a really entertaining course, can't seen anyone other then Semenuk taking it.
  • 8 1
if messere can land a clean run without crashing i recon he'd put up a challenge. just sayin
  • 1 0
Yeah the course has a lot of opportunity for big balling tricks which he seems to be especially good at. If he really goes for it, and manages to land it all, he's got a good chance.
  • 1 0
Looks quite simply, SICK... it'll be interesting to see what line choices everyone takes as there's more options, not to mention see what gets thrown down on some these massive jumps... can't wait, STOKED to the 3rd degree..!!!
  • 3 1
The last drop is too big, at the end of everyone's run, people wanna send it for a last time big banger. The size of that big drop is gonna minimise why people can throw in a big way
  • 1 0
I dont think so dude. Zink said he expects some big tricks off it because pretty much all the guys have got good tricks from flat take offs now. It is monstous though. I stood at the top of it and did not like it one bit haha.
