Fort William World Cup 2011 - DH Timed Training

The usually sloppy wet and gloomy Fort William World Cup was surprisingly sunny and hot today. Winds picked up which kept the midges at bay and helped to dry out the track, turning it into a freeway full of potholes. Massive braking bumps and holes are starting to form as the dry layer has been pushed off the track and the damp dirt underneath is getting shredded.

Everyone seems to be enjoying the track, including the new sections in the woods leading into and out of a decent sized road gap. Qualifying takes place tomorrow, under what could be decidedly more miserable conditions. Rain and a high of 7c. Everyone will be breaking out the mittens and Goretex once again.

Welcome back to Scotland, everyone!

Haha, I meant that comment to be two different statements. I want Gwinny to crush it, but I still want team Yeti to do well. I do know that Gwin now rides for Trek world racing. I guess my comment wasn't very clear. Rolleyes

Gwin has 4 victories so far this season: 1) Fontana City Nationals 2) WC#1 in S. Africa 3) Pro GRT in Plattekill 4) U.S. Open. I'm betting on Ft. Bill being #5. Let that big dog eat, get ya' some Gwin.

Aww, I was looking forward to scaring myself on the new gap to berm. Is the jump over the new xc route tunnel open to the public?
  • 1 0
Yeh but its not much of a jump its just a huge roller that you can pop, if you have springs for legs, most people pedal straight over the top.
