Picture of the Month is an article showcasing the best Pictures of the Day from the month before. We take the most viewed photos from the previous month, and pick our favorites out of the top 10.

April was an awesome month for photos on Pinkbike, there were a lot of great ones posted. Every one of the photos here could be POM, and there were a lot more as well. The shot of Dylan Sherrard that actually won though is sick, so much amplitude, and so much style. That just kind of sums up Dylan's riding. The crash photo in the number 2 spot is also a super worthy photo, I'm not usually a huge crash photo fan but this one really did something for me. And then there's the shot in the number three spot, it's bmx, it's slopestyle, it's in the backyard. Everything about this photo is sick! And it just keeps on going... Enjoy!

I'm slightly disappointed with these. Don't get me wrong, they're all great photos, but there aren't any that really jump off the page at me. Christy

I like #4 quite a bit, but otherwise I completely agree
  • 11 13
number 3 is so sick. simple and elegant
  • 31 1
Nice shots. How can you be disappointed? These are the most viewed shots. Is what it is.
  • 33 2
 somebody will always be disappointed
  • 7 2
I find them all interesting to look at. Why is it everytime anything gets put up here people have so many isssues. There is a lot of content, we should be pleased at that fact. They can't all be zingers right? That being said, I really like these myself.
  • 1 3
haha at the end of all your comments christy i keep thinking youre saying "christy!" as in, "christy moses!"

A photo doesn't just have to capture a trick or whatever. It's supposed to resemble the style and effort put into nailing what ever they landed, even if its like #1. I think this is a great collective set of riding photography.
  • 2 1
the part in the middle on number three looks like a frame and fork
  • 2 1
some people just cant appreciate photography, there's a lot more too a picture than what jumps off the page, everyonea these dudes got steez

Even if you don't think they are the best set of photos, the comments on them make every second worth your time Smile

1 could be better if it was cropped and had levels tweaked
2 should get the “lucky photographer” award cause if he wasn’t about to eat it the picture would be nothin special and a crash pic isn’t a good motivational/promotional image. it just looks intense.
3 is cool but seems too basic in comparison
4 is a well planned out, skilled and a well edited shot
5 needs to be cropped a tad more but is another well planned, solid shot

Over all fit, finish, and quality has to go to 4. But 1 and 5 could have easily rivaled had they been adjusted differently.
  • 4 1
Imperfections make for good photos man. And what do you mean @Number 3??
  • 1 2
 Cropped... :/
  • 12 1
Someones talking out of their bottom now... aren't they...
  • 13 1

haha wow i was not expecting criticism for an honest evaluation but thats chill. I like to actually give credit to the photographers, not just the riders. In my opinion 4 is the best image as is. feel free to disagree but i don't need little twerps attempting to alter my opinion by complaining. make your own and counter something i’ve said if you disagree.
ridenz, number 3 is a cool clean shot but in my opinion it looks like something that could go down in anyones back yard with any decent camera and no idea how to use it.
  • 9 2
Huh. I went to your profile Zach to see examples of your exemplary photography talents, but I couldn't find anything there... Funny how you're referring to everyone else as "little twerps" despite being only a teenager yourself.
  • 10 2
Hey everyone has a right to state their opinion as long as it not discriminatory or overly offensive. And just because someone stated their opinion doesn't mean you need to read it or reply to it.
  • 6 5
CYRIX -i don’t have photos on my profile cause i don’t shoot biking. i do fishing and hunting. thats cool you went and dug for my birth date after taking offense to me calling a couple people out for acting like "little twerps", you clearly have little man syndrome. maybe i should figure out how old you are and say grow up and act like it. Im stoked to be 19, better than being 29 and acting like an 8 year old.
I made a personal evaluation of the photos with reasoning and stated which one I thought was best. why don’t you do the same instead of complaining about someones valid opinion.

Cyrix, in fairness, you do not need to be a photographer to understand the technical nature of photography. Think of it this way... do you need to be a blonde with big titties to judge a wet t-shirt contest? Of course not. Zach was not gentle in delivering his message but most of his comments make sense... i.e. #1 is a super cool photo but it would be better yet if the dirt and rock in the background were not nearly as bright which would help bring the eye to the rider. He gets a little lost in the photo. Disclaimer: I am not a professional photographer or graphic editor, but I have done enough reading and training on the subject to at least be halfway informed... hope that helps!

PS my vote is #4.
  • 3 4
ya my bad if it seemed "un-gentle". ALL of the photos are really good, but when it comes to picking the best one there are some pretty clear pro's and cons to each that make it obvious in my opinion.
  • 4 0
I saw all the comments and decided that I should use my magical computer and take another shot at the photo. Im always happy that people liked the photo, but I am also happy to hear anything else about them too. A slight adjustment will probably be made for the POY contest, but everyone has to wait to see it....because they fought on the internet.

Arron Hilton: That's gonna be hurt.
  • 3 2
I really like 3, the simplicity is what makes it awesome Big Grin
  • 2 2
I love this one too. The picture looks simple, but I love the splashes of colors, the blue in the rear spokes, the red of the crank and the shorts, the pop of green leaves against a block wall. The logs and the homeade jump are just awesome with the rake and shovel on the ground this picture really tells a story for me.
