Video: The Dudes of Hazzard - Business as Usual Part 1
This video is super fun. Honest question/comment: When the Dudes are building a trail it is simply a fall in rut that will experience significant erosion. In my experience these trails are scars on the land that give mountain bikers a terrible reputation with land managers and make getting permission for legitimate trail construction far more difficult to obtain. Why is it okay to celebrate these trails in video?

This is an honest question. Why should we, the mountain biking community, not be concerned about trails like the one shown in this video. This trail appears to be primarily a fall line trail with a very loose surface. It appears that this trail will create an erosion problem for the trail surface and put a lot of sediment in the nearby streams. This does not appear to have the low environmental impact we like to sell to land managers and the public. Please point out what I am missing.
