There are plenty of times that a suspension fork can be useful, especially when your fatbike is a 12-months-of-the-year trail machine. When "dry land" riding takes up more than half the year, the ability of the bike to handle technical trails makes more sense. More riders want just one bike for off-road fun, too. Thus, the suspension-equipped fatbike became a reality. The Farley 7 is built around the classic sturdy Farley frame, with Trek's hydroformed Alpha Platinum aluminum used throughout. The frame geometry is stable enough for sloppy, slushy mid-winter rides, but is still eager to handle tight singletrack. A tapered E2 head tube anchors the fork for better handling and braking in all conditions. Internal cable routing adds a clean look as well as improving shifter cable lifespan in frosty or muddy conditions. The Farley 7's adjustable Stranglehold thru-axle dropout allows the rider to change the chainstay length up to 15mm; a big help when different tires -for snow or dirt- are installed. The Farley 7's air-adjustable Manitou Mastodon 34 Comp suspension fork boasts 80mm of suspension travel for technical summertime terrain as well as frozen singletrack. With the ability to soak up impacts without a "beachball" feel, the Farley 7 can charge through rock gardens with much better control than a fatbike with a rigid fork. A lockout knob is handy when fluffy snow makes the fork superfluous. A 15mm thru-axle adds an extra dash of precision in high-speed turns and descents. SRAM's 11-speed NX rear shifter, NX Roller Bearing Clutch rear derailleur and SRAM 11-42T cassette bring a massive gearing range to the table, allowing the Farley 7 to tackle roller-coaster singletrack with ease. An alloy RaceFace Aeffect crankset with a 28T single chainring does power delivery duty, and is installed in a press-fit PF121 bottom bracket. The alloy SUNringle Mulefut 80 SL wheels are wrapped with Bontrager's massive tubeless-ready and studdable (!!) Gnarwhal tires. Measuring at 27.5x4.50" on both ends, there's very little the Farley 7 can't roll right over. SRAM also supplies the Level T hydraulic disc brakes for confident stopping power in all conditions, wet or dry.
