Santa Cruz V10 Carbon - The Timelapse Build

Building bikes is all fun and games and may sound like an easy thing to do, but does everyone really know how much works goes into building a bike? Here at Oneplanet Adventure I had the opportunity to follow bike mechanic Rhys Evans as he builds up this brand spanking new V10 Carbon, and in what better way to show that build than with a timelapse.

He put it all together, but forgot the pedals.. haha I would think that is an important part.

I saw pedals - before he takes it off the work-stand. You must have blinked. Smile

flag blueberrybagels (Nov 12, 2011 at 14:51)
Ah you are right sir. I didn't blink but I actually did look away for a lil bit. Got interrupted and caught the very last bit right before he took it off and the pedals are in line with the crank arm and didn't look like they were there. hah oops. whatever still a good video.

Wait, it took that much time to COMMENT the VID? That much Talking back and forth to (doing who knows what). Come on man, an experienced NERD can have the COMMENT WRITTEN, and POSTED in less than 30 min, and have the POST tuned to the VID'S style in another 30-60 min. Just seems like this was a lot of pussyTALKING around just to make a COMMENT. IMO if you can't POST a top end COMMENT in less than an hour (at most an hour and a half), then something is majorly wrong with your MARBLES. None of this lunchtime stuff. I guess it's cool for the NEG PROPS, but man, multiple TIMES REPEATING it, plus lunch, come on now. I guess this is why NERD TROLLS are paid pretty low wages comparing to the rest of the world's jobs. COMMENTED... done... next.

I did a literally pro grade COMMENT on my lahar in an hour, and had it tuned exactly how I wanted it in that timeframe, and that wasn't some generlically made v10, it was a one off, custom made COMMENT.

I liked it. I orginally thought it was going to be more simple - i.e. one aspect of the build, which would have been good, anyway, but I am glad it had more. The hacksaw going through the steerer tube was my favourite bit, followed by lunch. Which it was.

My initial reaction was: I hope they measured that stack-height twice! The time lapse makes it seems so haphazard.

rfffr: I work in a Bike shop I would love to see you build a brand new bike in less then a hour first off every parts is in packages every tool has its own place as you need a tool you put the one you were using away or your work space gets all messed up you need to have every part on the bike right you need to center things like stem/bars seat crank if its outbored chain guide you are always taking off packing gresse on parts like chain witch also needs sized to work right you need to cut stuff like bars and fork find the right headset stack combo I think you need to also count for doing a good job on a build if you can build a brand new bike in less then two hours with all new parts from frame up you need to be the first one to ride it and I hope it's down a hill

 rfffr:

1. Your not making any friends here due to your negative comments slagging off others work.
2. If you can build a bike in around 30 mins from scratch then i reckon you should make a video and send it to Guiness book of world records.

Until then just grow up and have a little think before you make yourself look a little bit stupid.

The v10 looks mint, very nice component selection too, nice job.

When I see such movies, the whole work at the workshop in States or close to, I want to take my stash and move away and start a new life, new job as a mechanic, hone my skills and be very close to the latest in MTB. Hate to eat the seconds here.

Its nice to see things so close to home.

Shame he didn't go for a spin around the car park at the end tho.

Pretty sweet. I like the part where he puts the chainring on the wrong side of the crank at first and then it's magically on the correct side a second later. I do stuff like that a lot, but I guess this makes it okay...
