Four-Cross riders already tore up the dirt at the 4X Pro Tour last weekend, however all eyes and ears will be tuned in to the upcoming action this weekend, as Bikepark Leogang in Saalfelden Leogang gears up to host its sporting highlight of the season. Starting with the Four-Cross World Championships on Saturday 21st, this final race will determine who will be crowned king and queen after a season of head-to-head duels and fierce elbow-to-elbow racing. Then on Sunday 22nd, at last the suspense will come to an end in the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup battle – but not before the world’s best riders once again test our nerves as they make their final descent of the season. Who will reign victorious? Tune in and find out!

The adrenaline is probably still pumping after last weekend’s awesome Four-Cross action. The current Vice-World Champion, Michael Mechura from the Czech Republic was fastest in the men’s race followed swiftly by fellow Czech, Tomas Slavik and Swedish rider Felix Beckeman. In the women’s competition, Australian Caroline Buchanan was on top of the podium, Katy Curd (GBR) crossed the line in second and Czech rider Romana Labounkova finished third. Despite the usual dose of heart pumping action, let’s see who will attack during the worlds.

In the women’s downhill series, Rachel Atherton is already standing with one foot on the top of the podium as she now leads the UCI Downhill World Cup by 160 points. Rachel has shown nothing short of dominance, determination and courage however, the question on everyone’s lips is: does she still have enough power in the tank to bring home her fifth world cup triumph out of seven races and really hammer home the message that she is queen of the season. If Rachel can keep her tires rolling as fast as they have all season and not succumb to the pressure, then she will deprive Emmeline Ragot, who has been chasing her all season of a last minute overall victory. The ultimate nail-biter, the race that is on everyone’s minds is the men’s elite downhill finale. Rachel’s brother, Gee Atherton is currently leading the overall ranking, with a slim 17 points margin ahead of his closest rival Steve Smith from Canada. After conquering the mud and the slipper slopes in Hafjell last weekend, Stevie is undoubtedly looking to continue his winning streak and prevent an Atherton double victory in Saalfelden Leogang.
