Val D'sere is yet another stop on the road of the World Cup circuit this year for Team Chain Reaction Cycles. But its proving to be an exciting one for the Team with the decision by Nukeproof to roll out the Prototypes of the new Pulse for public viewing and the team to try out in anger!

The Pulse is basically an improved version of the Scalp that the team have been racing and developing for the past year. MTBcut are currently filming a full feature on the development process and testing of the bike up until now, but in the meantime here's our CRC mechanic Carl Geeson to talk you through the basics of the new bike!

Track Walk day at the Val D Isere World Cup

The riders and loving shredding the new bike on this Val D'Isere course. Its short but fast, and until yesterday's qualifying, it was super dusty. Racing is undoubtedly going to be close on this track. Here's a GoPro view of the course with the man who's been at the top of his game this season, Matt Simmonds

Our MTBcut snapper Sebastien Schieck has been killing it with the photos this season. Here are some of the stunning images courtesy of his camera this weekend.

Do you think they get time to admire the view mid run?

All the Team made is safely through qualifying yesterday, so give us a cheer when watching the live coverage on Pinkbike this weekend. We'll also have a full video of the new Pulse coming in the next few weeks as well so keep a look out for that!

nice to see they cave aimed at making the frame consumer friendly with the shock protector thing, i know that on my bike the rear eye of the shock gets covered! and starts creaking :/

Totally like the shock mount and cover set up they have going there - it's about time somebody did something about that.

make a little mudguard out of an old plastic bottle or something and put it back end. Works for me!

  • 3 2

  • 1 0

does this mean we can now expect shops to clear out their Scalp inventory for 50% off?
oh please oh please . . .

check out www.chainreactioncycles.com ,selling the scalp in a very good price with two shock options

just got myself the MEGA frame!!

 or no shock at all

Crazy idea but....for a video about a new frame design why not use the camera to show decent angles and shots of the bike being talked about instead of 90% of the footage being some mechanic talking. The few shots of the bike were so short and shakey and blurry you could barely make anything out.

"Upgrade to our new bike - It feels exactly the same as our old one"

No she looks good. Weight was definitely something I noticed when working on the scalps so this is a positive step!

Wow, sooo many people on-track just sitting and watching lines.

And they need to f*ck off.

Nothing bothers me more than people (especially other riders, they should know better!) standing on the track or very close to it.
It is annoying as hell, gets me out of "the zone" because I have to be aware of them and puts both me AND them in danger.

Sometimes I almost want to crash into them on purpose. Maybe taking a Transition to the knee will help them using their brains next time they go near a downhill track.

lol there were only like five corners with people on them kinda near the racing line, you cant expect them to all clear off if they want to look at lines. plus thats just what practicing for a race is always gonna be like, wherever ive been anyway, the tracks open to all riders i guess

And that is five too much. Not riding = stay on the other side of the tape, for you own and other riders safety.

then dont go racing if you are going to bitch and moan about everything

Or, how about you pussies taking breaks every 500m. stay at home instead and leave the tracks to us who come to RIDE?
  • 7 1
@Nygaard Surely you're faster and more skilled than world cup riders checking lines.. oh wait, why aren't you racing there then?

 1. You are putting words in my mouth. The intellectually challenged persons best hand in discussions.
2. Physics suggest that your poorly executed attempt at sarcasm is actually true. Regardless of speed I would be faster than any world cup rider if he/she is stationary.
  • 3 2
Nygaard has a point, go try and do this at a motocross race even during practice and see what happens
  • 4 0
Fair enough point, Nygaard, but not very professional to use language like "pussies" etc... I would hope with an opinion this strong you wouldn't express it using such unprofessional language, particularly for someone with self-professed skill roughly equivalent to that of the WC racers. I firmly agree with you, but disagree with the way that you make your point. Maybe talk to the race organizers next time?
  • 2 2
@loaded - Exactly. On a MX track, even at a practise day where people are just there to ride and have a good time, you don't see this happening. And IF it did it would be about two seconds before someone "asking you kindly" to get off the track and go to the pit or start area instead.

@ldhbaker - That was unprofessional but I am frustrated by the attitude and flawed logic of people like andyschotke. I go to bike parks to ride (and have to drive 5-7 hours for decent downhill parks), but should stay at home because other people like to go there to stand still? That doesn't make any sense.

you're absolutely right! maybe a transition to the knees isn't such a bad idea! and yes it's deeply annoying and inconsiderate of people to stand inside the track! sorry, it's just dumb!! I to have to travel 7/8 hours to go ride a decent park and I was instantly bugged by the amount of people just hanging there in the video because i imagined traveling such distances and then being f*cked (crashing for example) because of stupid bystanders!! it's so f*cking idiotic, i mean, it's clearly dangerous! and anyone who doesn't agree probably doesn't use the whole track in order to mantain speed in corners and go faster!! well, as it turns out i like doing that! and screw anyone who stands in my way! stupid, selfish, inconsiderate pricks... as for the bike, it looks sweeeet and it also looks transition hehe

that first mechanic lent us an "amazing"! like 1900s pump at fort william Smile
  • 1 0
Looks sick! But I can't see how I could justify spending a load more when it comes out, when I can just get a scalp - it doesn't seem much better.
  • 3 4
Spent half the video talking about the adjustable wheelbase like it is something new. My V3 can be adjusted to 3 different sizes. What makes or breaks a bike for me is not just the design but the quality and look of the welds. Seams going right down the center is just unsat. My 2 cents anyways. Also, funny how the comments just refer to being happy that last years model will be cheaper now.
  • 3 1
Perfectly put. I dont know why they are trying to make adjustable wheelbase sound new it's been around for ages I can make my 09 bass longer or shorter if I wanted

holy shiiiiiiiit those bikes are so damn nasty, in an absolutely fantastic way!

Clever overall setup and clean looking machine. Way to send the cabin death-drop, Matt!!!
  • 1 0
good thing that the suspension didn´t change. so the scalp want loose much of its price and you´re not outdated course of still riding one
  • 1 0
 ho man!!!

I hate on board camera action with background music.
  • 1 0
Show me a carbon version and I could get on board.
  • 1 0
 Good vid, very informative. Cheers!

love the frame but i think a black fork would of looked better?
  • 1 0
I don't think they chose white forks for cosmetic reason, they'll be Marzo factory jobbies!
  • 1 2
 INTENSE!
  • 2 0
 No, i`m pretty sure it`s a Nukeproof . Smile
