DNS, DNF and DNA - Race Day at the Fort William World Cup

The point on the relationship between the kind of track and the kind of bike is a very valid one. I know dh and mtb in general change & evolve very fast, but the world dh circuit has been taking place more or less in the same tracks every year for a long time, so that an analysis on the bike characteristics (i.e. geometry, materials, weight, etc) in relation to the track landscape characteristics (i.e. lenght, soil, vegetation patches, rock gardens, jumps, gaps, etc..) is indeed possible. With all the technology and tools at our hands (GIS, GPS, multivariate stats software, etc..) it wouldn't be that difficult. Somebody -and I mean a bike company with $- should start creating the database.

I agree. A bird that can go faster than 300 km/hr "hunting" a guy in a downhill bike, yeah sure...
