Video: Trail Dog Shredding
@realshiftmedia A 6 months old puppy can be faster and should probably not even be on the trail, so starting early while they aren't fast enough is not the way to go.
1. Obedience 2. Breed, importance in that order.
1.U need to start of with basics like making the dog come to you and stay put on command. Once U got that locked down, it will be easier to work with the dog. Train the dog to run behind U, when it does good U give encourege and when it does wrong U ignore the behavior, stop and start over.
Since the dog rather have fun then just stopping every 20 seconds it will soon pick up. Stay behind = you will be moving.
Another good thing to work on is making the dog stay put where it is and not coming to you before it stops, ex. going up a fireroad and another vehicle is coming.
2. Dogs bread for herding are the easiest 'cause it's in there instinct to follow you and not do things by themeself, but they also need to use there brain otherwise they will be a huge pain. If U don't plan to herd or do things like obedience, agility etc on competition level, don't bother. Ex. BC, Aussies, Kelpie, Sheltie.
Retrivers are bread to be willing to work with you and therefore popular. Not as demanding as the above but often do have some urge to hunt and that can be a problem when they're off the leash. Ex. Golden Retrive, Labrador, Nova Scotia.
Those are the two type of dogs I would mainly look in to be cause of there natural instincts, but foremost it's the obedience that matters.

Analysis: 2014 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Bidding Guide
@Cuban-b Yeah, that's poor. Also I want to know what the €15000 goes to, surely that money can be motivated but it would be nice to know it really comes back to the sport!
