There's a whole bunch of websites that host a "Tech Tuesday", trying to teach you better ways to fix, install, repair, remove, etc their products on the market but, not too many website talk about how to ghetto-rig something out of nothing -- We invite you to WaCkY WeDneSdayY with tips on how to repair things or how to make things out of nothing when you just don't have what you really need.

So, you just drove two and half hours to get to your favorite bike/ski resort and as you're unloading, you notice you forgot your protective gear back at home.

In this case, let's say it's your shin guards. With gas at around $4.00 per gallon, you're not about to drive back home and you don't feel like paying 400% over MSRP for the products sold at the resort. So, what you do? You poke around in all the things you brought.

Within your stuff, you found a roll of duct tape you often use to fix other things, a pair of flip-flops, two different razors and an old unopened beer that rolled under the rear seat of your truck... great... that's all you need.

Step one: crack open that beer and start drinking... doesn't matter if it isn't chilled, just do it. We prefer Old Dominion Brewing Company.

You might want to try stepping out a macho man pants and start shaving your leg hair a bit because if you don't, it's going to hurt like a mo-fo later..

Shave off your leg hair, not all of it, just the hair just a little below your knee and a little above your ankle --- about 4 inches wide, might as go all the way around. Don't worry, it'll grow back.

Grab one flip flop and hold it against your shin and then duct tape it to your leg. It's best to get the duct just above your calf so it won't drift downward when you're moving around. Then tape the bottom half of the flip flop just above the ankle. Not so tight that it cuts off your blood circulation, just tight enough to keep it from moving around. NOTE: If you don't actually press the tape to your legs, you might as well stop reading, this true to life trick won't work.

Do a few leg stretches, maybe a few squats, even try walking up a flight of stairs, making sure the flip flops stay in place. If they don't Duct IT!! add more tape cause you know what they say... if you can't duct it...____ it. What you do from here is up to you but if you go hit the gnarly trails, at least some of your leg will be protected from the rocks and roots that often kick up while you're riding. You'll have to ride really fast so you don't get funny looks of course.

Ride on!!!

When you're done riding, there's a pretty good chance it's going to hurt like a sonOFaBeytch when you remove the tape but, it beats not hitting the rough stuff cause you don't want to get all cut up.
