The Nelson mountain bike scene has been at the forefront of the freeride movement since it was started in the late 90’s. Several riders from Nelson have been able to make it to the highest level of freeriding. These local trails and riders moulded Kurt into one of the best riders in the world. Kurt launched himself onto the global mountain bike scene after winning Race Face’s Ultimate Freeride Challenge when he was a teenager.
Over the past decade Kurt has won some of the biggest competitions in the world and has been part of some of the biggest mountain bike movies. In an industry where careers tend to last only a few years, Sorge has been able to ride and compete at the highest level.
After years of playing by someone else’s rules Kurt got together with several of his closest friends to create The Fest Series. He has been able to bring the best freeriders in the world to his hometown to compete in a contest that bares his name. Hoffest brings the new freeride movement to Nelson and gives Kurt that chance to share what he loves about his home town with the riders who are closest to him.
Polygon is excited to be working with Kurt and Mitch Cheek from
Solos Productions to give people a behind the scenes look into Kurt’s life.
