When I first started attending the
Northwest Cup race series in 2010, I knew two people there. However it didn't take long for another name to become familiar: Matt Orlando. Everybody knew who Matt was and it soon became obvious why. He was fast, determined, smart, and an all around good guy. A true mountain biker. Rain or shine you can spot Matt walking around the venue with a smile on his face; always willing to stop and chat. Now it's three years later and that hard work and friendly attitude have paid off. Orlando continues to tear up the NW Cup tracks, but with a different title. Matt both races for and manages
Team Freehub, the most dominant team at the Northwest Cup. With an incredibly successful inaugural year of team management behind him, I introduce to you the pinner that is Matt Orlando.
Matt resides in a Washington town called Gig Harbor. Although Gig Harbor isn't known for a large community of racers, Matt makes the best of the situation with a fast paced trail system in his backyard.
Early November is the most yellow and orange the Evergreen State gets, and Matt's yard is no exception. With maple trees everywhere, the leaves fall like raindrops.
Matt put a shovel in the dirt and sculpted a huge jump line for his video. Not one machine was used.
Who knew Gig Harbor had hero dirt and loam?
Always in attack mode. Ruts don't stand a chance.
Insert cliche ROOST caption here.
Gettin' sideways on the road gap! Matt can scrub, whip, and jump with the best of them!
Boosting the grad finale of the jump line. 30+ feet from lip to tranny, 15+ feet of vertical, and a blind goal post landing make for some gnarly hang time.
Matt would like to thank his sponsors for their support in 2013 and he looks forward to what 2014 will bring!
