I enjoy riding XC and trail, working at my local bike shop is great, I get to blow all my savings for university on shiny things!

Trans-Sylvania Mountain Bike Epic: Day 4 - Galbraith Enduro
You don't need the bike to be competitive in most cases; the reason why some chose XC bikes and did well is because they are good riders, simple. Many big travel bike riders would learn a big amount of line choice and decending skills from a 71 degree HA XC race 29er; it's much harder to point them down steeps.

I haven't kept up with case and hardware R & D recently, but I still think corsair makes the best cases; I love my 650D

In will's defense, it is tough to find good atv singletrack in southern ontario and the GTA without trespassing and damaging someone else's land, the only safe way is to have the land or make good friends with farmers and country home owners; and the registered trails are made to be full access, therefore mud pits and technical/jump tracks are far and few.
