Nice rig tho

Too many times the paint jobs don't match the contours of the frame but I think this job does it perfectly. Accentuates the swoopy lines, makes the carbon V-10 even more fast-looking. The UJ running up the back of the seat tube is sooo money. On the other hand the ENVE and other decals clouding up the rear triangle are less successfully oriented. But the ENVE logos on the wheels with the UJ are creatively placed and well done. "Bloody well done" as you foppish lads might say.

Technically, it's a Union flag, it only becomes a Union Jack when flown about a ship. Still, top show old boy!
  • + 4
Holy crap! This thing is gorgeous!
  • + 3
@brit-100 thanks for the technical info.
  • + 13
I dunno bout you guys but.... boner acheived.
  • + 1
ok someone please tell me whats this thing that is protecting rear triangle from chain and what might they used to glue it?
  • + 0
Is that true? I never knew that. Good pup quiz knowledge.
  • + 2
 I envy his enve's.
  • + 3
Indeed... enve hoops + chris king hub = a sexy little wheelset

I give huge props to pro racers who can handle their own mechanical shit, and I saw video of Steve Peat building up the wheels on this bike himself. That is AWESOME.

@brit-100 interesting info, but it looks like both are acceptable: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Flag#Other_names

@ chajcu I'm pretty sure it's Scotch brand rubber mastic tape 2228. It's made for electrical connections, but it works well as a chain stay protector. I buy it at Home Depot here, but I'm sure you could pick it up online somewhere.

That bike should be everyone on this site's dream downhill build. Shimano, Enve, Santa Cruz, Fox, okay, maybe not CrankBrothers pedals (okay, I guess if you have your own mechanic!)
  • + 10
i'm a little disappointed that peaty didn't go all out and get red white or blue handlebars and tires.
  • + 1
i would love to see red and blue tires!
  • - 12
Nah, my dream dh build would be a dobermann stella or a rocky mountain flatline with raceface and marzocchi.
  • + 2
 grosssss.... that's just my opinion
  • + 2
bad taste party here we come
[Reply]
  • + 6
You would think for someone who has 20 years on the British team they would have remembered to register him for the world champs. Good luck Peaty.
  • + 2
 LOL! Epic FAIL.
[Reply]
  • + 6
why do all you yanks wish it was yours with the union jack on every component?
  • + 15
 Because it looks mint, duh
  • + 24
Red, white & blue all over. Couple changes and its Team USA bike eh!

Sweet ride! Good luck and I hope you come in second, right behind Stevie Smith.
  • - 2
Yeah eh! Pretty sweet eh! Eh!
  • + 14
Because they secretly all wish they were still British - ever heard a conversation from a bunch of Americans: "I'm half English, quarter Scottish, quarter Welsh" - and this is from someone who is fourth or fifth generation American.
  • + 11
heh, amrskipro...... very true, Americans do go on about where their ancestors hail from....... but the reason we want that bike is because it looks rad. Union Jack and all.
  • + 9
I'm half Norwegian, but I've never been there, and I live in Arizona. So basically I'm not Norwegian...
  • + 11
being a scot and a brit, i like how many americans and canadians are proud of their british ancestory...i dont see the problem with it...they're welcome to come over for a dram and a bit downhill i say..
  • + 8
yet they slate tea and crumpets at the first oppertunity, most have never tried a cup of tea and crumpets.
  • + 2
CaptainLip....aint nothin but a thing...we can all stereotype...
  • + 6
Im not really quite sure of what a crumpet is ... but i would try one.
  • + 7
they are lush toasted with butter on. nom nom nom.
  • + 4
true, nom nom !!!!. ...or honey.. The dough can be used for sweet and savoury toppings. I often do them with tomato puree and cheese to make a crumpet pizza!
  • + 6
hell yeah! crumpet for the win!
  • + 2
Hmm, they look like English Muffins. Is that why we call them that? ....... You learn something new everyday.....
  • + 8
Hey, when this is all over can we go get some Crumpets? I could eat a whole mess a' crumpets.
  • - 8
i didn't knew that peaty is a pimp, because that bike is total pimpmobile.
  • - 2
 Pimpmobile?? Wut??
  • + 5
Riding that bike on a muddy trail In the rain followed by afternoon tea with scones, cakes and crumpets would be a perfect day for us Brits...
  • + 3
Because all bike parts sound fancier with a Brit accent.

  • + 2

I always think that when I see his bikes lol I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!! Other than that it's one of the nicest bikes i've seen
[Reply]
  • - 1
To be honest, and it looks like I'm the only that thinks it, I don't like the look of the V10. It's not helped by the fact that everyone on the syndicate is well over 6 foot tall and rides a massive garden gate sized bike with 2 metres of seatpost showing! Still gotta love Peaty though, hope he's up there as a contender this weekend.
[Reply]

[Reply]
  • + 1
Why so much rise on the stem?
  • + 3
Because he's tall, and it's to suit the track. You'll notice they ALL run taller front end set ups, and softer rear springs/compression tunes when the track get near vertical. It's all about balancing ones self on the bike.
  • + 3
thus are the luxuries of being pro. plenty of parts at your disposal to dial in the proper setup for each course.
