by Jamie McCormick
Hey guys needed some help in knowing what brake is the best. I ride DJ's and Park so i am therefore looking for only the rear brake just needed advise on what the best brakes to go for are. I had in mind Formula one but i dont know if its worth forking out that much money. Any advise would help! If you could drop links too so i could go straight to the item it would be much appriciated or if you are selling any! Cheers!

I use the gusset hydro chute, and I like it. I don't think it's the most powerful out there, but it has plenty of power for normal braking duties. www.winstanleysbikes.co.uk/product/43611/Gusset_Hydro_Chute_Rear_Disc_Brake
Otherwise, I've heard the shimano deore brakes are descent. Not used them for DJ, but I ran them on my XC for ages and they worked well.

Hydro chute had a good factory bleed too, if that matters to you at all.

Formula RO brakes are a good choice

I replaced "The Ones" on my DH bike with Formula ROs and they are so powerfull I was thinking about going with smaller rotors. I think these brakes would work great with your bike because you don't need a huge rotor to hang up on. They are worth the extra $

I would say a Hope tech x2 but maybe not a floating rotor, having a bit of trouble with mine but I recommend any hope brake as me and friends have had them and they are little maintance and big power.

"Hope moto" no one else comes close,

If you're riding DJ and Park, all you need is something to stop you. A four-piston downhill brake is not necessary. A Juicy 3 will do the job just fine. I, however, much prefer an Elixir 5, 7, or 9.

Hope M4 seems to be the brake of chose for pure strength But hope in general are the ones to look at, possibly some saints if you have the dollah, avids went wrong a lot for me, hayes i have no idea, so wont comment.

Hope mono mini rocks. All ways used with no problems. Or the newer version mono trials V2 I believe it is.

Hope Mono Trials 're also the best ones in my book. Works even better when you wet your disc with some water. get's really powerfull !

I know ill prob get flamed for this but ive been pretty stoked with the performance of my Hayes Primes. Ive ridden avids and I honestly dont think they even compare.

I hope you dont get flamed for it dude, PB is about riders letting other people know how they feel about certain things. I value your opinion and im glad you took time to comment. I will give them a look up, your not the only person who has said that. Keep it steady in the meantime.

Shimano SLX new style, 'nuff said. COuld always plump for the Saint if you wish, but really not needed!

Pretty much any mid range brake will do you fine. Something like an elixir 5 or 7 would be prime!
