Not about price. It's about value. Your LBS is more than likely sponsoring local race series, local riders, trail maintenance, jobs for your riding buddies, etc.

Fox Racing Shox Changes Its Tune: CTD Gets More Compression Damping and a Progressive Spring Rate
HA! Nope. Welcome to the world of bicycling, mackdaddy55! In with the newest, out with the slightly less new. ...Well, I guess you could purchase a new damper through your LBS. That's one "solution."

Endless Trail - The Hans Rey Interview
Always the possibility that it's a Float 34 shimmed to 150mm travel. Putting a 160mm on would tweak the geo and the bike would handle completely differently. Shimming a 34 would save the geo with the benefit of the added stiffness.

Yeti SB66 - Tested
Not sure where PB testers are riding in CO but all-out speed certainly does NOT "negate" tight handling characteristics. Everything on the Front Range has at least a gazillion switchbacks...

Dec 29, 20122012 Transition Bandit black large
$2700 USDGo ahead and make an offer; I'm not particularly firm on price!
Decked out 2012 Transition Bandit 26. Frame has been protected by Shelter tape on the downtube and 3M mastic tape on the chainstay. Suspension recently got a full service (oils, seals, FIT cartridge service). Newish brake pads. New chain. Pivot bearings have been replaced recently. Currently running a 38T chainring on the front which is a bit stiff for most folks. I've got new 2x10 XT rings for the crankset and can toss them on for you, I just don't have the derailleur--but can get a new shifter and derailleur for less than you'll pay at your shop. Bike now has new Continental Mountain King II 2.4s which aren't in the pictures. I'll go through it once again to make sure everything is greased/lubed/tight before I send it out. I'll take PayPal or cash in person. If you have any questions or want to check out the bike just reply to the ad and we'll chat. Parts list is as follows:
Large, black Transition Bandit frame
Thomson 70mm stem
Azonic World Force 30" handlebars
Cane Creek AngleSet (pushes the HA down to 67 degrees)
Fox Racing Shox Float 140 Kashima Coat
Fox Racing Shox RP23

Shimano XT 175mm crankset
MRP 1x guide
