Pinkbike Poll: What Are Your Must-Have Features On a New Mountain Bike?
Why threaded BB? Unless it is a metal frame that makes no sense. A press fit is the way to go in carbon. If you can make a good frame you can make a bb within spec. For those who won't run a 24mm spindled crank. BSA is too small. However, I've never seen a T47 on a mountain bike. One fact that seems to escape people is all bearings are press fit. Adding bearings to a threaded sleeve via "pressing" them in and then screwing that into a frame is missing the point. All my bikes are press-fit. Sadly my Rocky is using bb92 which means my 30 mm cranks eat bearings. My gravel bike with press fit works fine. Norco do not seem to make a reliable in-spec BB shell. I don't blame the BB I blame Norco.

A Day in The Life: Exploring The Rugged Chilcotins with Sam Schultz and Margus Riga
Cause a backpack is superior to sticking everything to the bike when it comes to trail riding. I occasionally strap my tent to the bar, especially when carrying five days of food. Then I can't wait to put the tent back in the pack so the bike feels unencumbered again. It takes the right pack otherwise I'd recommend against it. My choice of backpack is a Seratus Condor or MEC Zypher 45. The Condor is now feeling its age and is no lightweight pack. So if you can't find a pack that sits low enough to allow zero helmet interference, don't do it. What I'm wondering is if they got dropped off on Warner pass. Why didn't you head down toward Taskeko lakes? The ride over Iron Pass to Lorna is stunning. Also, I thought the agreement was that the helicopter would only land in designated spots that were serviced by the float plane. Given the ride. I'm puzzled why they even used a helicopter. It's only three hour ride to get to deer pass along Gun Creek. I carry in the pack. - Exped sleeping pad - Enlightened revelation -7 wide - Big Agnes Copper Spur bikepack tent - Jet Boil flash - bowl/cutlery - jacket - pants - socks - shirt - food and misc phone, headphones, light/lantern/charger combo I've done this type of riding since the early 90's, so literally, it feels like nothing is on my back. As for the pace of carrying this load. 70 minutes from the north end of Spruce lake campsite to Jewel creek bridge.

10 Products I Loved In 2021: Sarah Moore
Great to see fellow pack users. I thought my Zephyr 45 was pushing it. I find it so much easier to ride with a pack than having anything on the bike. My Big Agnes tent can easily attach to the bike but I notice the handling worsens. So into the pack it goes.

The Best Clip-In Trail MTB Pedals for 2021 - Pinkbike Buyer's Guide
It all depends upon shoe contact with the pedals. My Northwave soles wore faster than the cleats. The shoes would rock on the pedal. Not so with SPD cleats and Shimano pedals. But the release on them is terrible. Candy pedals are sublime to use. Just make sure you have a shoe that works well with them. The "wings" on either side of the cleat should contact the pedal body. Shimano update their platform pedals to provide even greater shoe contact. But to me it will reduce float and that is what makes Crankbrothers pedals so nice to use. Lots of movement is allowed before release.

Video & Photo Story: Bikepacking the Southern Chilcotin Mountains
How much camera gear was taken on this trip? The loads didn't look too bad but pace was very slow. It does get easier the more you do these trips. I've taken a friend on three bike trips now. On the last trip I had the confidence in him that he could do a good loop. A 40 km day from Jewel, Spruce, Tyaughton, deer pass then camped at Trigger. The next day we rode to Warner lake and back to Jewel creek. This summer I managed four trips. Zero bear sightings but lots of others saw some. In fact I think this was the best summer for riding ever. Only had a touch of rain once in 12 nights spent in the Chilcotin's. Encountered very few riders. Felt like the good old days where you were truly alone up there.
