Bikethrasher

I'm a Trail rider through and through. I'm never satisfied, Thus I am constantly searching for the perfect trail bike. This being the case. I spend lots of time demoing bikes. I generally don't comment on bikes unless I've ridden them. I sacrifice pretty much everything for the sake of owning really nice bikes.

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Use Your Climb Switch?
@hi-dr-nick: Considering most but not all of the XC courses here in Colorado can be ridden on a gravel bike why aren’t you riding a hardtail for XC races? Just we are on the same page I’ve ridden the Whole Enchilada and many sections of the Colorado trail on an aluminum hardtail. If your going to lock out the suspension for most of the race or have it set so stiff it barely works what’s the point of dragging around the extra weight and complication?

Pinkbike Poll: Do You Use Your Climb Switch?
We climb mostly single track so the climb switch doesn’t help much it just takes away from the ride feel and traction when I need it in the tech.

Video: The Freshest Bikes and Products On The Market | Pinkbike Weekly Show Ep. 18
Full custom builds. The only complete bike I ever bought was my first Mtn bike back in 1992. Every bike since then has been a custom build. I like what I like. Just so happens that today is new bike day for me. It’s dumping snow here in Denver and I just got called off work. Time to build.

Review: The Pivot Shadowcat is Niche & Nimble
@bmoneyak: Most High School XC races here in Colorado draw well over a 1000 people. So it’s no small feat to put on one of these events. It takes an army of volunteers and industry leaders to make them run smoothly. Most of the events are held in small Mtn towns. We are grateful that they are willing to provide the venues for us and I’m sure they are thankful for the economic boost we give them. As for corporate sponsors. Some provide financial support for the race series. Some offer good discounts to racers and coaches. Some sponsor riders and teams. Here in Colorado SRAM/RockShock provides mechanical support at all the races. Some help with logistics. Any and all support is greatly appreciated! There is always a need for volunteers and coaches. I’ve been coaching the last two years and my wife volunteers at the races as well. Coaching has been very rewarding. It’s amazing how fast some of these kids are and what they can ride on a XC race bike. If Front range trails aren’t technical enough for you. Start riding them on a 100mm travel race bike with flimsy race tires and weak brakes. I can assure you trails that seem tame on your enduro bike will be a lot more interesting on a XC race bike.

Review: The Pivot Shadowcat is Niche & Nimble
After a summer of demoing a bunch of extremely nice bikes my son decided he wanted a Shadowcat. His reasoning he said, Dad I know I have to race XC on it but I’d rather be trail riding and, it’s the most fun bike I’ve ridden… For the sake of comparison he rode the Sb 120 LR SB-135 Sb140 Pivot Switchblade Trail 429 Transition Smuggler Ibis Ripley and Ripmo Santa Cruz Bronson. Big thanks to Pivot, Yeti and all the other brands that support High School racing. Couldn’t afford a bike like this without your support.

First Ride: Revel Rascal V2
My friend has a V1 Rascal with a 150mm fork. He rallies the shit out of it. We don’t have trails here as burly as the PNW or BC But the Blacks and Double blacks here in Colorado like Sluce, Ore Chute, Lunch Loops, Grouse, Left Hand and everything we have ridden in Moab are all within this bikes capacity. As long as your skills are up to it. Granted he is quite talented on a bike. Yes he rode every bit of Portal and Jackson on it. I’ve ridden it a couple times and I don’t think it would hold me back on many trails here in Colorado. The rear suspension is fantastic in the rough. The cable routing hasn’t been an issue as long as he changes his shift cable and housing annually. There are a lot of very capable bikes out there these days the only thing that holds them back is the rider.

Industry Digest: 30% Drop in Shimano Annual Bike Sales, Apple Vision Pro Shopping Apps, Brake Lever Lawsuits & More
People like Timothy Lynch is the reason everything in America is so expensive. There needs to be a common sense panel that keeps frivolous lawsuits like this from ever going to court. Lawyers that bring frivolous lawsuits to fruition should be disbarred.
