Norbs rode the Demo to a good finish (should have been better) at Rampage on the Demo

Demo 8 gives absolute confidence until next sponsor pays up and that new rig will give absolute confidence.

@genericmk: "Demo 8 gives absolute confidence until next sponsor pays up and that new rig will give absolute confidence." Clearly you don't know the relationship between Claw and Specialized. Seeing as he's been on their product FOR 10 YEARS! With no plans of leaving them anytime soon.

Why would he leave them? You just proved genericmk's point. He's gotta a good gig rolling! Just because he's got a freaking awesome setup doesn't mean the bike sucks. It's a sweet bike, and he's got a sweet gig. Easy as that.

@genericmk: The way you have worded your comment gives the impression that you are being rude about Darren and suggesting he is only riding with Specialised for money. All that video was was an advert and it makes sense for Specialised to have a famous rider doing the advert rather than a random rider. Would you not agree?

Give the BIG RED S a break..... afterall it is the Claw. Dudes made a living out of riding his bike and Specialized has been key in that regard. Cool stuff says I.

For a second i let myself forget about all I know about the demo and dh bikes in general and watched this video from a consumer's standpoint seeing that it is an ad. All I got out of it is that the demo is great for riding down big mountain terrain that hasn't been riden before... Im moving on to look at other bikes because Im not going to be riding big mountain in china any time soon. I know the demo is one of the sickest and fastest dh bikes but this commercial is unrelatable to the average consumer and probably won't be that effective. Just my 2 cents.

Cool ad I guess. If I were shredding big lines in China/Nepal/middle-of-nowhere-Utah I'd be more worried about getting adequate medical attention rather than having pivot bearings wear out...

Claw is badass, specialized makes cool bikes, so why make a video that no one can relate to? WTTE was cool but I still love riding trails, not bike skiing down a sandy mountain

Demo vs. Status on Rampage -> did anyone consider this should be a marketing from S.? Well, having 2 toys for 1 purpose; why not to display both to millions of kids? Just an idea...

Anyone know why he ran the Status at Rampage? Only thing I could think of was pictures I've seen of the Demo bottomed out show that the BB almost hits the ground 'cause it's so low, might be an issue at Rampage?

shorter chainstay for spinning, same reason martin rode one

flag StinkyKieran (Oct 31, 2012 at 11:23)
Steeper head angle, higher bb, similar length chainstays, better angles for freeride basically

flag freedjdh (Oct 31, 2012 at 23:11)
I dont understand why people keep saying the Status has shorter chain stays- thats totally false, demo has shorter chainstays than the status.

flag Jaaaaaaaames (Nov 1, 2012 at 8:23)
Soderstrom said himself that the reason he chose the status was shorter chainstays and a higher BB which would make it easier to trick

flag freedjdh (Nov 1, 2012 at 9:41)
 Demo: 421mm chainstays
status: 426mm chainstays

from the catalogue ^. the chainstays are not shorter on the status! the status does have I think a 2mm higher BB so I will give you that though!

flag StinkyKieran (Nov 1, 2012 at 9:43)
According to Dirt magazine, the demo has the shortest chainstays of any dh bike, not sure if it still does though as that was a while back

I feel like Berrecloth is always super dramatic. I talked to him on Thursday at Rampage and was surprised that he actually talked like he did in Where The Trail Ends in person!

The Claw is a pure legend but lately he is doing too many campaigns focusing on the dramatic and sentimental side of “big mountain”... rather than ripping down the maddest slopes! Nevertheless, Claw equals Demo Smile
