@SickEdit: for motorcycle trials tyres theres very specific regulations about width of tyres knobs, depth, spacing between and profile shape, knobs heave to be perpendicular to dorection of travel. Tyre has to look the same running in either direction. Acu reg tsr8 I think. It really limits possible configurations massively. I was told regs were put in place years ago to limit grip available, so things didnt get out of hand with what was possible. That didnt totally work! but would have been worse, or better depending on your point of view with out them.

@chriskneeland: thats the arguement here aswell, in the mountains and total isolation out there. However the counter arguement is that you might get injured, which is moderate for mtb but pretty weak with regards hiking which is also banned. I think the real reason for the bans of these activities is maintaining order to be honest. If you live in Paris and everyone could move about to run amd cycle the chance of spread would be high due to the population density. Here it is so slow with all the space around us. However they need one simple message nation wide, if folk stuck inside on lockdown in citys saw all of us out on our jollies biking and skiing regardless of the relative risk, I really think things would kick off badly.

@vinay: sorry i wasnt clear, from what I ve seen they re not allowed to train, but the rules do seem to be applied inconsistently at times. And theres not a lot of police around here and big empty spaces so some folk are out doing some banned activites.

@moroj82: Seems false, there really bashing the message that no one is exempt from the light exercise with in 1-2 km of your house rule amd no mountain activities at all.
Just today in town apparently the police fined a local girl on the national ski team who was training on a bike and they were up on the hill on skimobiles cracking down on the touring.
