Check out the brand new Orange 324 as Jacob Dickson gives the redesigned monster a smashing down his tracks on the east coast of Ireland.

Tucked and tight after the road gap.
Jacob tucking her in post road gap. Eyes on the prize.

The Monster. Go check it out at Fort William this weekend.
The Monster. Visually the bike is very similar to the 322, but when you’ve come this far with a design its the small changes that make the big differences.

The bike you are looking at is a custom version of the bike that will go into production, this bike has been custom built to team rider specifications, but the production bikes should be very similar to these if not the same. 63 degree head angle, 445mm chain stays, 150mm axle, 83mm BB, lower BB at 13.35″, 27.5″ wheels, and pivot points which have seen adjustments to make the suspension slightly less linear and more sensitive off the top.

Custom Bell lid. Bling bling.
Just to top off the new bling, this is the brand new livery design from Bell. Specially designed for the Orange Dirt World Team and complete with a matte finish, keep an eye out for these one off's on the race circuit. Chocolate digestives included.

People moaning about oranges obviously haven't ridden one. They're simple and reliable and ride fast. What more could you want from a bike.

 Linkages, bells and whistles?

Had I seen this edit out of the context of a pinkbike article, I would have thought it was advertising the trail centre, not the bike. In terms of a product edit, it was fairly weak - basically, in the hands of a fast rider, the Orange 324 can go downhill quickly. No surprises there then... How about telling people about the changes, the testing and why you ended up with small revisions rather than massive innovation - both are valid approaches. Just my 2p worth...

No-one wants that! There is some info on the geo here and if you know about Orange bikes then you know their design philosophy. If you need anything more, you can read that on a companies site. What you reeeeaaallly want is a banger edit to make people sit up and take notice of a new product- delivered!

@Garthebradley. It's an Orange, nobody cares about the innovation or changes on an Orange. It's a bike and it'll go as fast as you can, no crummy standards or umpteen percent better-er bullshit needed.

But.... Where are the new size axles and + and -'s In the model no. I'm so confused? Its as if all those things are absolute bullshit? Wtf I'm very angry Mr trek and ms specialised you told me everything else was now obsolete! I have to say you did see me coming

I'd be very interested In riding an orange on the trail.

They all look like very crude and heavy bikes but yet you see plenty of them about, so it makes me curious, what's so good about them?
  • 5 0
Looks can be deceiving, they're thin walled and rigid through the folding process. Ride one, every on that I've used has been great.

...and it's supposedly a DH bike, so we'll see it where next WC season ? Old hat design, ugly as sin, zzzzzz !!!

If you're talking weight, Jacobs bike is bob on 35 lbs. Lighter than the new carbon Demo. And well they're British, and they're frickin' rad.

Just wanna say the 911 has taken a very long and slow evolution. And it's loved worldwide. I take my hat off to orange.
I have one question, given the apparent dislike of oranges simplicity, do people think if sales were down, orange wouldn't have brought out something 'radical' and 'groundbreaking' by now?

 Big up Lidl digestives

That's one rowdy edit! Now if only I wasn't at work.... Sod it early morning shred when I get in Smile

ooh about time! I like the updated looks, it's clearly capable and great video

Still just a hinge with wheels on.
  • 3 1
Aren't most full suspension bikes just then multiple hinges with wheels on? Some people don't want fannying about with bushing kits of various sizes for each 'hinge' I guess.

No-one wants that! There is some info on the geo here and if you know about Orange bikes then you know their design philosophy Do they have one?

Anyone know why orange don't go 157??? I know it took them forever to go 142, but it just makes better sense.

It's a digestive! Thought it was a medal to begin with.

Long travel travel Alpine, looks bomb proof mind.

 It looks very... 1995
  • 13 1
I wouldn't mind betting that is it said "Nicolai" on the side people would be all over the "industrial" feel and going nuts for how it breaks away from modern CF frames, etc, etc Wink
  • 6 2
I don't like the look of Nicolai bikes either. Don't get me wrong, when the Patriot came out in 1995 or whenever it was it was the coolest bike I'd ever seen. Made in Halifax is a great bonus too for a Yorkshite like myself. Only thing is, they haven't moved on. Hydroforming looks awesome but it's not just for show. Single pivot I have no problem with. Just the looks of this bike, and looks are important to most buyers even if they won't admit it. It's an anachronism.

 YAWN..... Come on Orange FFS

What about BMWs? They make small incremental changes with each new version of their cars. This is a good way of engineering a great product. All flashy and new, probably means it will have problems that have not yet been seen in short testing timescales.

For me Orange are doing their job properly.
