289 riders arrived in the town of Casper California for the inaugural Wild Wood Adventure Enduro, almost doubling the population of the small coastal town. The stoke was high for this event - this is the first 2-day enduro for the California Enduro Series, in a region that very few riders are familiar, and the longest race in the series. The excitement was so high, when registration opened in March the race sold out in 30 hours - and then when 50 more spots were made available in May, they sold that same day. Riders were greeted by the very enthusiastic local bike community, led by the Mendocino Bike Sprites. The weather was perfect, the trails were in great shape, and the locals had everything dialed - we were all set for an awesome weekend of enduro racing!
After the first day of racing we had Marco Osbone in first overall for the Pro/Open Men, followed by Jeff Kendall-Weed, Evan Geankoplis, Teddy Hayden, and Scott Chapin - and Megan Lelack in first overall for the Pro/Open Women, followed by Abby Hippely, Brianne Spiersch, Lauren Gregg, and Caroline Dezendorf. In addition to being on the top step for the fist day, Marco and Megan also won the Rabobank KOM and QOM for the fastest time on the stage running down Manly Trail.
After 2 days of racing, with almost 55 miles of buff California Coastal Redwood trails with close to 9000' of climbing and descending, Marco Osborne took the podium for the Pro/Open Men, followed by Jeff Kendall-Weed, Evan Geankoplis, Cory Sullivan, and Teddy Hayden, and Megan Melack took the podium for the Pro/Open Women followed by Abby Hippely, Lauren Gregg, Caroline Dezendorf, and Brianne Spiersch.
