Well well summer is here, less than three weeks and COP is open for all Mt bike shredders! A lot has been happening here at COP with getting ready for opening day. A trail crew has been hired and buffing berms, cutting brush and sculpting hits have begun. We have a really amazing and dedicated trail crew this year and we are working hard to put things together for opening day!

This past week was dedicated to buffing the east trees. We’ve widened the trails for those with wide bars thus increasing trail flow and shreadability. Now, you should have no problem engaging those side tire knobbies this year. Berms have been constructed to increase speed and flow whilst other corners remain nice and flat to get drifty and hone those DH cornering skills. I’m really looking forward to rippin’ the east trees this year given the adjustments we’ve made. Now these trails will really pertain to the masses of trail rippers, young and old, grom and pro! All will enjoy the classic feel of just ridin’ in the woods. There is a little something for everyone here!

This week our goal is to address the flow of Safari Planet. We will be dialing in berms, fixing hits, and adding some flowy rollers, step downs and table tops. We will also be installing mass amounts of culverts to address drainage issues. Rain can be our biggest enemy in trail building and trail riding. Riding wet trails, while can be a tonne of fun (you didn’t here that from me though!), ultimately destroys trails and increases work load for trail builders. We will be addressing these issues this year to help minimise rain closure times. Dry trails = happy builders and more shred time for those who really want to get sideways.
Wish us luck this week and hopefully the rain gods will hold off.
Stay tuned to get the latest on whats happenin’ at COP bike park!
To be continued next week…
