Video: Max Fredriksson’s Perspective on Why the Male Slopestyle Riders Decided to Not Compete at Crankworx Rotorua
I think one of the problems is you have 2 alternates that in most cases won't ride and don't get any exposure. It's likely that they don't have strong sponsorship to cover costs either.

Video: Do Lightweight eMTBs Enhance the Traditional Experience?
@jefe: exactly I run a lot of volunteer maintenance in my area. We had all these problems before ebikes and I haven't seen any significant increase since they became more popular

Men's Category of Slopestyle Will Not Proceed - Crankworx Rotorua 2024 [Updated with Unified Slopestyle Athlete Statement]
@jsnfschr: not for me to say whose responsibility it is, just pointing out that potentially there isn’t enough sponsorship to support it. Maybe we see a reduced field or no slopestyle at all. Given that half of CW total viewership comes from men’s SS will they themselves survive without it?

Men's Category of Slopestyle Will Not Proceed - Crankworx Rotorua 2024 [Updated with Unified Slopestyle Athlete Statement]
@chrismac70: there’s been several regular top 10 riders who don’t have a frame sponsor. Tom Isted podiumed, finishing fourth overall with no frame sponsor and did the worlds longest backflip on a frame he bought on eBay. Happily giant sponsored him this year.

Men's Category of Slopestyle Will Not Proceed - Crankworx Rotorua 2024 [Updated with Unified Slopestyle Athlete Statement]
@Joyrode: doing away with the slopestyle triple crown prize would cover the appearance fee for 1 of the 4 events. Only Emil is winning that anyway and I doubt he is hurting for cash.

Video: From Smashing Laps at Bike Park Wales to Sheffield Loamers in 'Ragamuffins - A UK Riding Film'
Theres a video (a rideable piece of art) just down the homepage. The builder literally pulls an almost identical move at the end and talks about how it’s designed for riders to be able to express themselves in different ways. Much more egregious examples of blowing up trails in many other videos.

Any race line has to account for the different skill levels of the categories it’s open to. Even World Cup DH trails have to cater for both the junior females and elite males. I’d agree with you about some of the trails around Denver but that’s a case of making the most of the small amount of new trails that are allowed, rather than a desire to design this way. If you can only build one bike specific trail and your choices are, a blue trail or a blue trail with black options which would you pick. Hopefully that situation changes in the future and the design will change with it. Ore Chute would be a good example of the end goal where you have A and B lines for a few key features but they are different shades of the same overall rating. The upcoming trail at Virginia Canyon has a lot of options of various difficulty but It’s the first trail in a new network so has to cater to a wide range of folks while we build the rest of the network, subsequent trails should be more focused.

Video: Dirt Sculpting Artist or Trail Builder in 'A Rideable Piece of Art'
@phil-mclean: agree with you that those with influence should take more care. I also think that youtubers and the like should shout out the builders and maintainers of the trails they ride and how to contribute. It would take 30 seconds for them to give something back to the very thing they are making money from. As far as the insta culture goes, we see more damage from people skidding down trails that are too hard for them so they can insta-brag to their mates.
