I grew up in SD racing bmx and dirt jumping, I'm currently the designer/builder and main trail stewart of the Lexington street bike park located in Eagan. Along with building the bike park I am actively involved in the progressive movement of gravity based riding in the Upper Mid West as an advocate, rider and trailbuilder. On top of all that I am a certified NICA Highschool Mountain Bike league Coach.
I've rode my surly LHT from NY to San Fran in '09 and have also race cyclocross and gravel endurance races usually 100mile races I prefer my mountain bike and gravity based events but I just love to ride my bike plain and simple. Read about my cross country adventures at

Mountain Biking in the Midwest
Pretty rad to see the Midwest starting to get some play time! While as many have said we might not be world wide destination ride locations there are spots that are starting to become regional destinations for sure! There are definitely some quality level riders but when making a film with little to no budget you have to film the riders that show up! Great work! Here is maybe a little better sampling of some talented riders, at least at CGBP, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFXPoPQVwbE check the park out on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cottagegrovebp?fref=nf

Pinkbike Poll: Fatbike Racing is Inevitable
As much as I dislike Fat Bikes, I don't feel it is a fad anymore... almost all bike companies now have one and there are companies that specifically make Fat Bikes. I live in MN and and about 1 in 4 people that MTB own a fat bike and probably 1 in 10 that is their main MTB... People go crazy for them.. all the XC trails are open year round and there are weekly races all over the place in the upper midwest.

Pinkbike Poll: What Style of Grip Do You Prefer?
ODI Ruffians, thin and hard! I would like if they made them a little longer for more options of where to grab the bars. I don't ride with gloves and love the feel of these grips. I do prefer the double lock two because I don't want my grips to move at all.. I tend to twist on my grips while I ride for some reason and i've had others that only lock on the inside and didn't like them at all. they lasted 1 ride.

International Bike Park Survey
Great point... the more diversity we can provide the more user groups we can attract which means the spot is more popular which means more people interested in the sport and more aweness of the sport. Hopefully that leads to more riding spots. That is our goal at the cottage grove bike park something for everyone and room to grow and develop

International Bike Park Survey
Sounds amazing but I don't think you will ever see kamloops or fernie replicated in a free public park in MN.... we for sure want to provide diversity and options. Not just a "jump line" it will be the first of its kind in MN when its complete.... cheers

International Bike Park Survey
Wuzupjosh.... you make a lot of great points. I am currently the volunteer park operator for the cottage grove bike park, we just won the bell built grant and we are looking to build a bad ass dirt jump section at our park. We will totally build progression into the jumps but we want to focus on providing something for the advanced and expert riders as we have two pump tracks and a 4x/bmx track for the beginner and intermediate riders. What do you consider big enough? Are jumps with 5-6 ft lips with 15-18 ft peak to peak distance considered advanced and expert level dirt jumps?

Bell Built Central Voting Still Open
Thanks StevenDukes! our project is ambitious and totally unique to our state! Also totally grass roots! We want to use the money to build a 1 acre dirt jump plaza. Hopefully it will help build the scene in MN and produce the next generation of rippers and pinkbike followers!
