What's it like to be a pro downhiller from Colombia? And what's it like to speed violently down steep, narrow, broken city stairs, through a tunnel of screaming fans? Giant Factory Off-Road Team rider Marcelo Gutierrez knows. This is his life. He's a rising star in World Cup downhill, and a straight-up legend in the urban downhill game. This is Marcelo's world like you've never seen it before.
Man, this guy is full on in this for all the right reasons, thanks PB and Metis Creative for getting this profile out there, sick riding, amazing destinations, great people!
At the speeds he's hitting things, it's no wonder there's flex. Flex isn't always a bad thing though - It can make the rough stuff a little easier to control, sometimes improving grip and cutting out trail chatter.
Im From Manizales Colombia and i meet marcelo and family; Marcelo its more than excepcional athlete hes a Gentleman, good person, good friend. i remember when Marcelo have no more than 8 YO and wanna go with my team for ride (we have 25 YO aprox); and my friends say don go with the litle fat boy, its too slowly. LOL I allways say “the Karma its a Clown“ Go for it Marcelo: “EL MONTA“ m.youtube.com/#/results?q=hd+sostenido+monta
I met Marcelo last summer when he was traveling the North America east coast and had the pleasure of doing a trail ride with him. He is the real deal. I remember asking him about the urban races. I expected him to shrug it off, but he surprised me by saying how parts of those courses cause genuine fear. Fear that has to be overcome. Can't wait to watch him on the WC circuit this year.
Its videos like this that make you think...Why did I give this shit up for 15 years for ecstacy.cocaine and discoteques?...oh well back racing at 40 and given up the ecstasy...and living the dream!! Bring it on!!!
Everybody should take a page from his book , super humble , great dad and knows that he is fortunate to be living his dream ( our dream ) , great clip This race is sooo sick
Good to see something by Clay Porter, his work is always top notch, but I always wish he would come out with a bit more material. Now that we are all stoked on his work, it would be a great time to unveil that Peatys documentary is coming out soon. I have been dying to watch that one for ages!
I'm usually not a clay porter fan but , the was one of the best edited, well put together ,most engaging short films I've ever seen on mtn biking.
--seriously glad its all the same volume and nobody is mumbling .Awesome!
I was going to comment that this is the best video I've seen all year. Reminded me of a Clay Porter film. Then I read this and see that IT IS Clay Porter film. Great job Clay. And what a awesome rider - I'm now a fan!
I got the chance to meet Marcelo last year when he was here in the states, he was staying with a friend while training at Mountain Creek. He tore up that mountain like no ones business. I swung by the house one day as I picked up some brakes and Marcelo installed them for me. The guy is just so genuine personal and down to earth. I will be rooting for him this year all the way...
great edit, but rockshox come on can we please have the black box forks!? you would be doing all of us a favor by making every bike that has one 43.36547% sexier.
One of the best edits and cinematography I have seen in a while. The tight slo mo shots are an eye opener. As in how a bike performs under race conditions.
The city race is wicked!
While Red Bull does seem a bit overzealous with their marketing from time to time, they do put on some pretty kick ass events!! gotta hand it to them, they're an awesome positive "non-bike company" sponsor of the sport.
Pista como tal no existe pero hay un monton de brechas y single track para bajadas larguisimas. llamo al contacto que tiene la información y te la envío en mensaje personal, saludos
You are always going to get flex in a wheel and as has been mentioned a little flex is not a bad thing.
Amazing video, top guy and awesome dad.
his dream ( our dream ) , great clip
This race is sooo sick
"the only thing you have to figure out is don't fall down"
Sweet.
What a dad.
