I love how Contour made a big deal out of having colors for their cameras and then literally like the day after they release them GoPro drops a whole new camera
OK, now where are the higlights????? Ordinary advertising spots make news on Pinkbike more and more often lately. This is a bit sad. I am afraid that the time that we will have to pay to watch advertising spots is comming...
What's even more ridiculous is all of you are completely blinded by a loyalty that you actually had to buy in to. Reminds me of people who go around slagging Chevy because they bought a Ford. Talking a bunch of shit about a product because you bought their competition.
All this gopro vs contour back and forth is kind of ridiculous. For general use they both make a great camera. It's one thing if these helmet cams are used to film parts in majors action sports videos, which wil eventually make their way to big screens and blue ray etc. But for 99% of the people who use the cameras for nothing more than making little edits to share with friends or put on YouTube, there's no difference. The small differences in quality just aren't going to show up there.
honestly think that this would be the same or not a good with a go pro. contour have always made better cams its just that people will automatically think go pro are better due to how they are marketed
Looks like the Aussies got sent a dodgy batch of gopros. They have an upside down mode so they should work for you guys too now ;-). Contour, Drift, Go Pro all make epic little cameras, but the quality of the GoPro footage just pips it for me.
You cant argue for the contour, the hero 3 black just took what these cameras are to another level, i have one and the raw footage without any color correction or editing is so much better than a contour, it's rediculouse to try and argue for contour when its simply an inferior camera on paper and in real scenarios.
GoPro definitely have better quality and the company makes better edits for advertising, but contour (roam (2)) are more reasonably priced and have better mounting options, are a better designed camera in terms of shape, ease of use and look. Tbh if u have the money then get a GoPro but if not then contour are a perfectly good camera for the stuff most people use it for.
i agree quality of go pro footage is better. but ease of use is way better for contours! the contour roam is basic get it done camra that i have it that was awsome to lean how to edit film and start all that. but the better contours can do every thing a go pro can and probably more! gopros are good for useing mounts on cars and boats there there size and shape dosent matter but for mountain bikeing i dont think you can go past a contour!
@PatMcG: Contours simply can't do all the things the GoPro can and more- I've seen this argument so many times and I think it's fair to say that both have their pros and cons. I would agree the contour looks better- and as they're more sleek so you don't feel such a fool wearing one. Another point against the GP is that in my experience I have had quite a few technical issues with the cam itself and various backpacks. They have at somepoint changed the mould for the clips and mounts so some clip in really easy whilst some are a nightmare to remove! Despite all this, when working properly, the GoPro delivers footage quality that's quite unbelievable for the money. That's what it comes down to for me, and for the majority of others it would seem.
